USM against STPM students?

The nightmare is haunting STPM students again...

Many excellent STPM graduates are again, like last year, being denied a place in USM. Some people argued that its because of their poor performance in Munsyi test? So Matrikulasi students did better in Munsyi and hence deserving the opportunity to enter the prestigious Apex university? Is academic performance no longer a priority to USM?

Stop fooling the world, USM.... A brand new year with the same old trick. So far, I've heard many top stpm graduates did not get any kind of offer from USM, including those scoring 4.0CGPA.

To USM: If you keep wanting me to show my statistics and source of reference, why not YOU do it first... Dare you? Make the selection list public, and show YOUR statistics of the list of entry to various critical courses like Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy to all Malaysians.

I guess this is the time when non-matrikulasi students should do something about this issue which has been persisting for quite some time already.

首相侮辱华小？

尽管公正党在乌雪选区多处张挂布条，公开挑战首相纳吉与该党实权领袖安华进行一场“王对王”的辩论会，但是纳吉今日表态，他不会接受有关挑战。

纳吉表示，他比较喜欢会见选民，胜于考虑与安华辩论的挑战。

情愿与选民会面多过辩论

根据《马新社》报道，纳吉在出席叻思马来干榜的一项民众宴会时说，他不会理会有关的挑战，因为目前他最关注的就是保证人民的未来。

“哪里有要和安华在新古毛进行辩论？没有。我比较喜欢和您们见面，因为从中可以获得许多利益。”

“因此，我们不要理会反对党的所作所为，因为他们更关心政治多过人民的议程。”

出席有关活动的国阵领袖包括首相署部长加米尔、国内贸易、合作社及消费事务部长依斯迈沙比里。

指类似辩论会对谁都无益

纳吉说，类似这样的辩论对各界包括人民都无益，而人民也不应该被扯入反对党的政治阴谋中。

“对我来说，这种辩论没有方向也无法确认它的好处。我们有愿景、有政策及意愿。我会继续改革工作。”

承诺国阵胜利隔天钱过账

另一方面，纳吉今午在叻思国民型华文小学出席另一项活动时也宣布，若国阵在乌雪胜出，他将批准300万令吉拨款，作为已有80年历史的叻思华小的建校费用。

也是财政部长的纳吉说，他在聆听该校董事局的汇报后，获知该校需要一笔建校费用，因而才发放上述拨款。

“当我听见校方长篇大论的解释后，我在此保证，政府将发放300万令吉给这华小。”

他指出，此举也为明示雪州政府，勿取回该校校地；相反的，它必须继续属于该校董事局所有，以作为回馈社会之用。

“若国阵明日获胜，身为财政部长的我，将出示拨款信，那300万令吉也将转入该校董事局户头，次日（周一）能得到那笔拨款。”

他笑称，若国阵胜利，董事局隔天可以上吉隆坡找他，但是如果国阵没有赢，那就不必找他了。

否认国阵曾忽视华社华教

纳吉也否认一小部分华社指责国阵忽视华社的需要，尤其是在教育方面的需要。他指出，单单在2008年，政府已发放1亿 4500万令吉作供华小做发展经费。

“政府已为华小做许多事。证据就是，我们已通过2008年的两个刺激经济配套，发放1亿4500万令吉给华小。”

出席该活动的领袖包括马华总会长蔡细历、房屋与地方政府部长江作汉、教育部副部长魏家祥及财政部副部长曹志雄。

Scholarships and Opportunities

First of all I would like to congrat every 2009 SPM candidate on their wonderful results. However, I am especially doubtful about the new grading system which the Ministry of Education introduced recently. Candidates who sat for Chinese Language paper were deeply disappointed by their results; most of them getting B's and C's, while some luck ones scored A-. Only 2, TWO student out of 580+ JitSin candidates scored A+ for their Chinese Language. What the heck is wrong right here?

Obviously its another effort by the government to deter future SPM candidates from taking Chinese Language, which might potentially lower their chance in competing for government scholarships. Will that be an obstacle for Malaysian Chinese to master their own mother tongue in the future?

Well as soon as the result is released, SPM candidates have only about 7 days to make sure that their scholarships applications are done properly. Yes, 7 days only. That is why you should start googling about government, private and local scholarships before the application deadline.

企图打击华文考生？

大部份考生无法摘A+　新计分制为难华文科？

（槟城李秋缘11日讯）2009年大马教育文凭华文科特别难？抑或是新计分制度为难华文科分数？

在刚刚公布的2009年大马教育文凭成绩内，大部分考生在华文科成绩都无法如愿摘下A+佳绩。据本报记者向各校查询，槟州内部分国民型中学考生在华文科中，都无法顺利考到A+的佳绩。

根据资料显示，州内国民型中学往年在大马教育文凭考试的华文科中，都获得很好的成绩，惟在采用新计分制度后，每间学校在华文科获得A+的考生平均没有超过5位。

槟华女中是华文科成绩最佳的国民型中学，共有8人考到A+，钟灵以5人次之。

据了解，华文科考卷分为理解及作文，而理解试卷较往年艰难，学生的作答也无法符合考试官要求，拉低分数而导致考获A+考生人数不多。

同时，每当更换新计分制度后，华文科往往都会成为焦点，因为分数等级都会较以往更低。

日新国中维持佳绩　100％及格率

（大山脚11日讯）2009大马教育文凭（SPM）放榜，大山脚日新国民型中学再考获辉煌成绩，保持100％及格率，其中李昱苇考获13A；张可林及巫靖忆横扫全科特优成绩（A+），成为全槟最优秀考生之一。

日新国中有591考生，考获5A以上学生有421名，占了总考生的71.24％。其中考获13A的有一名，12A的有14名，11A的有81名，10A的97名，9A的有62名，8A的42名，7A的有43名，6A的有42名，5A的39名。

校长陈金忠强调，中六先修班并不是升上大学或大专最后的选择，他提醒考生在筛选科系要特别小心，也可以向校方辅导处向相关负责老师作出询问。

他说，今次能考获如此骄人成绩，有赖于全体老师的教导，学生们的努力，同时也不忘校方3大机构，即董家教及校友会的配合与支持。

他重申，中五升上中六也并不是终站，还有机会上大学升造，日新每年都有85%以上的学生升上大专就读。

李昱苇表示，平时是靠与同学一起温习功课，在家就不停的复习。父母亲都是教师，课外书都是由他们所指导。

他表示，在学校内也参与课外活动，包括华乐团、学长团、网球队及像棋。

巫靖忆表示，平时是靠与同学在学校内复习功课，对于将来会筛选什么科系还未作出决定！

对于生于小康之家的巫靖忆，由于家里不富俗，所以希望考出好成绩，申请奖学金作为升学之用。

SPM近半考生全科及格　全国214人获全A+

二零一零年三月十一日晚上七时二十八分

（吉隆坡11日讯）2009年大马教育文凭（SPM）考试成绩今日放榜，共有214人获得全科A+等级优越成绩，以报考10科以内的考生居多，教育局总监丹斯里阿里慕丁一再强调大马教育文凭10+2方案可行度高，更可让学生获得更好的成绩！

09年成绩傲人

他周四在布城教育部公布2009年大马教育文凭成绩时指出，2009年大马教育文凭考试成绩令人感到骄傲，在46万5853名考生中，共有36万4046名或90.8%的考生成功考获文凭；其中19万9155名（49.6%）考生获得全科及格，当中6万8131（17%）名考生则全科至少考获C优等成绩。

“惟不及格考生的数目则提高，从去年的2589人（0.67%）提升至4626人（1.15%）。而今年报考9至10科的考生更是具冠，分别有16万27人（36.6%）和11万7550人（26.9%）。”

而在首次采用的大马教育文凭成绩分级制，新增等级A+作为最高成绩下，共有214名来自获得全科A+成绩，而考获全科特优（A+、A、A-）等级成绩考生高达7773人，两者以报考10科至11科的考生居多。

他披露，与去年大马教育文凭成绩相比，考获全科特优考生数目提升了1710人或27.27%，涨幅非常令人满意。

依据上述数据，他也指出除了报考不超过12科的考生外居多外，考获全科特优成绩考生，都是以报考不超过12科居冠。

“由此可见教育部推出的10+2教育方案可行度非常地高，学生能够更专注考试，以考获优越成绩。”

城市乡区考生成绩拉近

另一方面，阿里慕丁表示城市与乡区考生成绩距离拉近，尤其是英语、科学和道德教育科目；惟在国语、历史、数学和回教科目则需多加努力，再拉近两地的教育水平。

而于提升大马教育文凭国语和英语水平方面，则获得令人鼓舞的提升，获得国语特优等级成绩百分率，从2008年的25.4%增至31.3%；考获英语科及格巴仙率则从2008年的73.9%，稍微增长至75.6%。

教育总监：及格率上升0.8%

教育部总监丹斯里阿里慕丁宣布，2009大马宗教高等文凭考试（STAM）整体成绩令人满意，在6920名考生中，共有3138名考生所有科目都及格，与2009微升0.8%。

大马宗教高级文凭考试是于去年10月19日至21日，及10月26日至27日在全国98个考试中心进行

。

他表示，所有科目都及格的考生中，共有422名考生考获优等成绩(Mumtaz)，608名的成绩非常良好（Jayyid Jiddan），1407名成绩良好（Jayyid）及701名考获及格（Maqbul）。其中，最多考生考获特优的科目是哈菲兹可兰经诵经学（Hifzil Quaran dan Tajwid），共有1217名。

他也恭喜成功考获该文凭考生，因有关成就将促使他们顺利进入著名回教大学如Al Azhar、Mesir及其他国内国际大学。

无论如何，他希望进入大学的学生们能够维持优越表现，尤其在掌控阿拉伯文上。

残障考生成绩胜往年　4人获全科特优

2009年大马教育文凭成绩放榜，成功考获该文凭的残障考生多达251人（51.9%），较去年208人（47.8%）来得多，而1名拥有严重视力障碍问题的考生，考获4A+、3A及4A-的优越成绩！

在538名残障考生，共有251名考生成功考取该文凭，当中90人考获全科及格成绩，而获得全科特优考生则有4人。

阿里慕丁说道，1名拥有严重视力障碍问题的考生，考获4科A+、3A及4A-的优越成绩；另一名报考11科考生则成功获得4A+、3A及3A-成绩。

“同时也有两名身体残缺考生考获8A+，2A的优越成绩，这可是令人感到敬佩。”

10大年度状元排行榜　科学中学傲视群校

2009年大马教育文凭10大年度"状元"排行榜中，以华裔考生居多，共有6名华裔学校挤入榜内!

阿里慕丁公布2009年大马教育文凭10甲学生名单，来自砂州的陈义沁（译音）成为年度“最佳状元”，接着则是来自雪州的邱诗恩（译音）、森州卡蒂再、玻璃市艾玛希达亚、森州莎美娜、雪州李薇龄（译音）、丹州努苏谷哈达、甲州赖义英（译音）、雪州古慧敏（译音）以及霹雳胡美琪（译音）。

至于最佳大马教育文凭“秀才”中学则由芙蓉科学中学获得，成为年度最佳“秀才”培育所。

接下来则有雪州巴生苏丹阿兰沙回教学院、雪兰莪鹅唛寄宿学校(SBPI)、新山敦法蒂玛中学、隆市阿兰沙科学中学、雪州万扰寄宿学校、柔佛马坡科学中学、彭亨淡马路全寄宿学校、芙蓉东姑古希亚学院，以及新山耶稣修道院中学。

另一方面，阿里慕丁也说道今年首次以学校平均等级（GPS），区分不同学校在大马教育文凭的等级，而2141间学校当中共有66（3.1%）间学校获得卓越、278间学校则获得特优、1654所中学获得优等，及143所学校获得及格。

“这是为了官员往后可依据不同等级学校，给予有关学校适当的辅助，以提升学校的教学水平，培育更多优等栋梁。”

Chinese will take over in the next election, warns Perkasa

KUALA LUMPUR, March 8 — Malay nationalist group Perkasa warns that the Chinese community will use the next general election to take over the country.

(Not when the Chief Justice, the Inspector General of Police, the head of our Army, the PM, ....etc are still UMNO members)

Perkasa feels that the last general election weakened the Malays and empowered the Chinese community.

Dr Zubir Harun, director of Perkasa’ economic bureau, who was at the Malay Consultative Council’s (MPM) round-table discussion, said during his presentation that a divided Malay community will empower the other races.

(In his mind, everything is NOT about Malays, but its all about UMNO, UMNO, and UMNO.)

According to delegates at the discussion and documents received by The Malaysian Insider, Perkasa wants the New Economic Policy (NEP) to be the “spirit” of the New Economic Model (NEM).

(So that the new young generation of Malaysians will continue to inherit poverty from their parents who have been victimised under NEP?)

“Perkasa believes that disunity among the Malays has weakened Umno, causing the non-Malays to be more vocal in their demands. They say that the Chinese are also blackmailing the government to give in to their demands by threatening to vote for Pakatan Rakyat,” said one of the delegates.

(How can a country's minorities who are not even in the higher food chain of Malaysia can threaten/blackmail UMNO?)

Zubir also said that Perkasa is worried that the New Economic Model will have a Chinese agenda.

(Like? To introduce an economic quota for the Chinse like how the UMNO faggots have been enjoying under the NEP?)

“The Chinese people feel that the next general election is the best opportunity for them to gain power in this country.

(LoL.... I seriously do not have any idea where did he buy his Doctorate qualification from.. Calling himself a Doctor and yet keeps barking like a dog.)

“This is why Chinese NGOs, such as Ziong Dong and Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce, are using this chance to make demands of the government. If their demands are not met, then they will vote Pakatan Rakyat who are willing to give everything to the Chinese,” he elaborated in his presentation.

(These NGOs received NOTHING from the government all these while, and yet some "distorted" NGOs like PERKASA are being constantly funded by UMNO to spread their hate messages.)

Zubir added that the Malays have “sacrificed” for the country by allowing “the immigrants” to live in Malaysia.

(Shut up Zubir and stop being a hero, you and UMNO sacrificed absolutely NOTHING to this country. Unless you are the marginalized Orang Asli, or else stop calling other races pendatang or "immigrants".)

“It must be reminded that the Malay people have sacrificed tremendously since independence with a quid pro quo policy... the Malay race have compromised by allowing foreigners into the country. The Malays endured hundreds of years of colonization and the result is the migration of foreigners into the country. We were forced to accept this policy,” he said.

(More UMNO members enjoyed the wealth of this country and taxpayer's money than any other groups of individual in Malaysia. When the Malays, Chinese and Indians are struggling everyday to make ends meet, UMNO MP's are investing in overseas real estate properties, going on 'study trips' to Disneylands, building luxury homes and robbing lands of the rakyat.)

Zubir also slammed non-Malays and liberal Malays for wanting to rewrite the country’s Constitution and social contract.

(We Malays, Chinese, Indians and Orang Asli are Malaysians. Social contracts are ancient, outdated and racist, that it should not exist in a country who proudly calls himself 1Malaysia)

Perkasa believes that the NEP is still relevant because it will help the Malay community to counter a market which is dominated by the Chinese.

(NEP has failed completely in helping the poor Malaysians. The only reason to continue NEP is to benefit UMNO with more wealth and power.)

The Malaysian Insider reported today that the government has decided to incorporate the proposed New Economic Model (NEM) into the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP) in June, as fine-tuning and tweaks will go beyond its initial end-March launch.

It was learnt the delay came after feedback from various quarters prompted the government to rework its ideas and proposals that will turn Malaysia into a high-income nation based on innovation and creativity.

Among those with reservations about the NEM are the MPM which yesterday demanded it be based on the 1970s-era New Economic Policy (NEP) and should comply with Article 153 of the Federal Constitution that protect Malay and Bumiputera’s special position.

To all 08/09 STPM candidates who have received their results today, congratulations!
As I know, 27 students from JitSin obtained 4A's, and the rest have also scored one of the toughest exam in Malaysia with flying colors too.

It really does not matter too much at this stage whether or not you achieved CGPA4.0, because as long as you passed each and every subject, you have succeeded as a student; and most of all, you are already prepared for the next higher level of education.

I know it can be hard, sometimes, to accept what is written on the result slips, but everyone has to carry on with their live. Start applying for local and overseas scholarships, dont miss any of the opportunities out there. Spend some time to google up the deadline for university application right now.

Some tips for you guys:

为槟城钟灵哀悼

一共夺走了六条人命的龙船意外，深深地伤透了人们的心。让我们为槟城钟灵的罹难者哀悼，愿他们都一路走好。

钟灵最悲痛一天　6人全罹难

二零一零年一月十八日下午五时五十六分

（槟城18日讯）槟城钟灵中学龙舟翻覆事件发生后，拯救队伍于周一再寻获4名遇难学生的冰冷尸体，这样一来，这惨剧已导致1名老师及5名学生龙舟手罹难。

钟灵中学董事、家教、校友会及全体师生周一举行哀悼会，师生哭红双眼，场面哀伤动人，学校校旗下半旗致哀。

周一上午寻获的2名学生尸体是吴奕樟及杨延开，另两人谢子俊及黄雍翔的尸体也于下午在丹绒游艇俱乐部附近海域寻获。

这是该校自1952年陈充恩校长遭人暗杀以来，钟灵最悲恸的一天。

罹难家属情绪激动

据消息称，两名死者被发现时，据知遗体上并没有救生衣。两名罹难者的家属在现场哭得呼天抢地、情绪激动，有者更不甚刺激随之陷入暂时昏厥。槟州总警长拿督威拉阿育耶谷副总监，则于上午8时40分抵达案发现场，随即投入指挥工作。

元首首长神色凝重

极度关心这事件进展的槟首长林冠英，陪同槟州元首敦阿都拉曼阿巴斯于中午12时抵达现场。两人神色凝重聆听救援队伍的汇报，并陆续安抚及慰问在场悲痛万分的家属。由于尚有2名失踪者仍不见所踪，导致现场气氛悲恸，哀号处处，令人见者心酸。

这起“钟灵龙舟翻覆”惨案于周日早上8时许，在五条路海域发生。18名钟灵国中龙舟队好手和顾问老师，为国际龙舟赛备战训练时发生意外，老师、学生总共6人失踪，另12人获救，而顾问老师秦裕翔及学生庄纬翔先后于周日寻获。

截稿为止，失踪的谢子俊（17岁，中五生）及黄雍翔（16岁，中四生）仍下落不明。

昨误传已获救杨延开双亲哭断肠

案发首日一度误传指已获救的杨延开，在隔日证实已罹难。其父亲在认尸时情绪激动，大喊爱儿的名字，令人心疼。

杨延开的尸体于中午时分被寻获后，杨父即被安排前往认尸。经过一天一夜的守候，杨父的神情显得憔悴与低落。见着爱儿冰冷的尸体后，他既无法压抑内心的激动，悲伤过度导致无法自行站立及移动，需要旁人的扶持才有办法移动。

同时，失落的他也声声呼唤爱儿的名字，对爱儿的离去显得非常不舍。现场一片悲恸，悲凄的呼叫声敲入在场每人的心坎中，无不使人动容、心酸。

K9消拯搜寻犬加入搜寻队伍

K9消拯搜寻犬，加入寻找失踪者的救援队伍！

据槟州消防队副主任拉展对媒体指出，进入第2天的搜寻行动，搜寻阵容除加入经过特别训练的K9消拯搜寻犬外，也从吉打州调动支援，目前现场进行搜寻工作的救生艇已增至5艘，以加速搜寻其余两名失踪者的工作。

他也提及，搜寻行动分为A区及B区进行，并以槟城大桥为中心点；A区是大桥以北，B区是大桥以南。

K9消拯搜寻犬简介

K9原本是警犬，并在近年加入消防拯救队。这类警犬经过特别训练，并在发生天灾人祸时，加入搜寻工作。K9能带头领著警员寻找匿藏匪徒或隐藏的证据，甚至能在事发地点找到生还者或尸体。

K9 这个称号也是全世界大部分国家的警犬组名称，尤其是美国和俄罗斯。大马警犬组总部设在士马勒警察训练中心，其余警犬组则分别设在吉隆坡国际机场、马六甲、昔加末、新山、双溪大年、黑木山、怡保、槟城、瓜拉登嘉楼、哥打峇鲁、关丹、砂拉越美里、古晋、诗巫、沙巴亚庇、山打根和斗湖。

据悉，美国看到第一次世界大战期间军犬在战场上发挥的巨大作用，于是也开始组建自己的拥有2万只军犬的特种部队，用于执行侦察、放哨、探测地雷、警卫等军事任务。

4错酿惨剧

槟城锺灵中学龙舟队发生海难，18名师生翻舟后，12人获救另6名落海者，其中4人被捞起时，已成冰冷的尸体，目前2人还下落不明，综合这次惨剧的肇因，有4项错误或疏忽酿成：

1错－天然（农历初三为大涨潮日）。

2错－地点（五条路海况比新关仔角及峇都丁宜险恶，有暗流。）

3错－疏忽（龙舟队没有全部穿上救生衣。）

4错－人为（顾问老师不谙游泳，竟然受委为龙舟队顾问老师。）

正值农历初三海水大涨潮

意外发生离不开许多的巧合。

当天正值农历初三，海水正值大涨潮的日子，发生意外的时间是上午9时左右，也正是海水正在涨潮的阶段，海流湍急的时刻。

因为受到月球引力的左右，海水在每月的初三和十八皆会上涨到最高潮，一般潮汐在中午及午夜都会上升到最高水平。周日初三上午，海水高涨时刻的海流特别湍急，对船身瘦长的龙舟会构成一定的危险。

海峡地势暗流汹涌

钟中龙舟队意外，除了遇上了不利的天时，地点和人为因素也间接造成不幸发生。

五条路外海处，虽然获得槟威海峡的庇护，海上一般不会有大风浪，但也因为是海峡地势，涨潮时海水涌入也特别急。

当天，钟中龙舟队训练时，也因为救生衣不足，所以没有全部的队员都获得分配。这使到发生意外时，增加了风险。

加上学校的顾问老师秦裕翔是一名不识水性，没有划龙舟的经验者，不幸在这次的龙舟意外中，断送教育英才的抱负。

拯救员与记者起冲突彭文宝出面调解

周一中午时分，当杨延开的尸体被救援队伍寻获并捞上岸时，其家属情绪激动，而职务在身的记者即涌上前拍照。惟，却在混乱之下与警方、志愿警队及圣约翰救伤队起冲突，致使在场的彭文宝行政议员出面调解。

无论如何，记者解释指这仅为职责所在，同时记者也给予建议，即要求拯救单位应成立对外发言的机构，以方便与媒体之间的讯息沟通及掌握准确的消息。

然而，讽刺的是，在记者被驱赶离开行动中心后，大批救援人员却“挤”在行动中心内。不料待在行动中心内的家属久久无法平息内心悲痛，随之不断大哭，导致现场一片混乱。

后来，执勤警官马上指示所有不相关人士远离行动中心，只有在行动室执勤的警员可以在行动室。

PENANG, Jan 18 — The recovery efforts this afternoon of the bodies of two more students involved in yesterday’s boat mishap has taken the total death toll to six in the tragedy.

The bodies of Yong Xiang, 16, and Cheah Zi Jun, 17, were found close together at 4.15pm in the waters near Tanjung Marina pier, about one kilometre from the spot off Lebuh Macallum where the accident occurred, said a spokesman of the search-and-rescue (SAR) team.

The bodies of two other students, Brandon Yeoh, 17, and Goh Yi Zhang, 15, were found earlier today, in the waters near the Raja Tun Uda ferry terminal and Tanjung Marina pier, respectively.

Yesterday, the SAR team recovered the bodies of student Jason Ch’ng, 17, and teacher Chin Ai Fang, 28.

The Chung Ling High School teacher and the five students as well as 10 other students and two instructors were training for the Penang International Dragon Board Race scheduled for July in Teluk Bahang when their dragon boat capsized after being hit by a huge wave at 8.45am yesterday.

The mishap occurred about 100 metres offshore Lebuh Macallum, in an area often used by schools for their weekly boat rowing exercises.

The Chung Ling High School dragon boat team had been training for almost an hour since 8am when it was hit by the wave, the impact of which dashed the boat against a tugboat.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who visited the families of the students, said the school should attend to all the queries of the families so that they understand what had actually happened.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon visited the scene of the accident with Balik Pulau state assemblyman Datuk Seri Hilmi Yahaya.

Dr Koh extended his condolences to the families of those who drowned in the mishap and asked the state government to look into the safety aspect before designating an area as the venue of the dragon boat race.

The Gerakan president, who is a former student of the school, said he would meet with the school board, administration and principal on the tragedy. — Bernama

Handicapped Lawyer Insulted in Malaysian Court

The lawyer of MACC insulted Karpal Singh today in a heated exchange. After failing to interrupt, Datuk Abdul Razak Musa was ordered to get back on his seat by Karpal.

Probably he had nothing else to say, so he began, " I can sit down but you cannot stand up". Knowing that Karpal is handicapped, he humiliated him in the court room. Instantly he was forced and pressured by Karpal and Gobind to apologise following his the offensive remarks against the disabled.

That makes me wonder, is it not an insult to ALL the disabled communities in Malaysia, if a handicapped lawyer on a wheelchair can be humiliated even in the court? And what's more, the coroner refused to take further actions against Datuk Abdul Razak Musa simply because "he has already apologized"?

Now I know why Malaysian judiciary is so powerless.... that it can no longer function to protect its own people from getting hurt.... Malaysia Boleh.

Under WHAT Control?

Hisham, like most other high ranking ministers in Barisan Nasional, has never failed to make himself look like a fool in front of everyone.

When asked about the lagging response by PDRM, he defended them by saying that they were not being reluctant to act to fend off security threats. He claimed that the church attacks were under control. As if.

Not long after that, a 100 year old sikh temple was hit by stones. The law firm representing The Herald was broken in today. And, an attempt to vandalise The St Elizabeth Catholic Church in Kota Tinggi, Johor has caused the wall of the building to be splattered with red paint.

PDRM and the Home Ministry have been very defensive on these issues since the very beginning, saying that they are not to be blamed on for the attacks. And on the other hand, they are not acting to protect the victims. So far, none has been detained for the crime after 10 prayer grounds of other faiths have been arsoned and vandalized.

Who are to be blamed on? And the key point here is, WHO STARTED THE WHOLE DRAMA? The Christians? Muslims? I'll say none of them.

The below are some reasonings I plundered from the reader's comments on The Malaysian Insider, which basically tell you that, from the legal battle between home ministry and the Herald, to the church attacks - they were all started, and probably planned by our beloved Barisan Nasional Government.

ALLAH FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

INTRODUCTION - What did not happen

I will first start with what did not happen.

Christians did not wake up one day and say, “hmmm… instead of using the word ‘GOD’ lets replace it with ‘ALLAH’. We shall go to the court to declare it our right to use the word ‘ALLAH’”.

1. What actually happened

The Catholic newspaper, Herald, has been using the word Allah in their Bahasa Melayu edition for a long time. Suddendly, they are told, their publishing licence will not being renewed unless they stop using the word “Allah” and replace it with “Tuhan”.

2. Why go to the Court?

When the enforcement of the ban was taking place, what could the Herald do? They appealed to the Home Ministry to relax the ruling but this was rejected. There was no offer for inter-faith dialogues to be carried out.

The court was the last resort.

3. Why can’t Christians use “Tuhan” instead of “Allah”?

Actually, they can. They can also use various other names such as “The Almighty”, “The Creator”, “Lord God”, etc.

BUT unfortunately there are books including the Bahasa Melayu version of the Holy Bible which has already used the word “Allah” for years. Now the government has started confiscating these books.

Also Christians who use Bahasa Melayu have been accustomed to using the word Allah. It has never been an issue. So why should they suddenly change the way they pray?

4. We all know Allah refers to the Muslim God, Why the sudden need by Christians to also use Allah?

If you have never heard Christians call their God, “Allah”, chances are you never will. This practice of certain Christian groups referring to God as “Allah” is mainly in East Malaysia.

If yesterday I called God, “God”. Today I won’t call him “Allah”.

You won’t suddenly hear me acclaiming, “Oh my Allah”. I will still say, “Oh my God”.

Additionally, I don’t think Muslims will pick up a Bahasa Melayu version of the Herald. I am from West Malaysia and even I have not seen a Bahasa Melayu version of the Herald.

5. Malaysia is a peaceful multi-religious country. Why do the Christians suddenly bring up this sensitive issue and cause tension among the different religions?

Christians did not bring up this issue. This sensitive issue was started by the Home Ministry when they decided not to renew the Herald’s publishing licence.

Church Attack Continues, No Actions Taken

Yes. Another church in Seremban was attacked by Molotov cocktails and the exterior of the building was burnt this morning. And the usually fast-acting FRU who was swift in evacuating peaceful demonstrations by force and interrupting Perak DUN assembly, did absolutely NOTHING to protect churches around the country.

To prove how retarded these people are, just read what our Deputy IGP said following the most recent attack.
“What I know is that it did not happen. Where did you get this information from? That is what I want to know. You must double check,” Ismail said.

Our government and also IGP have been deliberately demonstrating leniency towards the raging demonstrators who went on the road to protest against the court's final verdict on Allah's case. Hishamuddin said it is people's right to "express their feelings". My memory is not really good, but I suspect Najib and Hishamuddin are more forgetful than the average Malaysians, including me myself. All of a sudden, the high ranking UMNO hate leaders have turned deaf and blind.

Remember the petrol hike, PPSMI and abolish-ISA peaceful demonstrations? Everyone of them ended up showered by water cannons and rained by thousands of tear gases. Demonstrators of all races were hit by the batons of Federal Reserve Units, kicked to the ground and arrested without charges.

And now? The terrorists who scorched the Malaysian churches are still out there. No arrest has been made even though 8 churches have been attacked to date. No actions taken to prevent further damage to the Christians in Malaysia and their churches are not secured from barbaric invasion. The reason being, as claimed by the IGP, they are short of police personnels. Probably our FRU's and police are now busy stalking Lim Guan Eng or Raja Petra who was said to be hiding somewhere in London.

Hishamuddin was fast to deny any involvement in these attacks. He condoned the racist cow-head demonstration and he allowed street protests that eventually morphed into hate assaults. He permitted TV3, Utusan Malaysia to provoke angers among Muslims on the Allah issue, but he threatened internet users and the public not to relate the assailants to UMNO.

NO? Hah. I'll let Malaysians be the judge. These fools probably dont have mirrors at home.

Najib and 1Malaysia - Churches Attacked

Najib promised many things. Change, he said. He wanted to change Malaysia. Unity, by showing off his copy-cat-ed slogan 1Malaysia to the whole world, he claimed he could unite Malaysians. But ever since the son of Razak took over Abdullah's position last year, everything changed, from bad, to worse. Beng Hock was killed while being interrogated by MACC. Najib denied any participation in the freak accidents.

Soon, any news regarding Altantuya disappeared from all major newspapers and electronic media. Port Klang Free Zone scandal was buried, no high-ranking officers were involved in the multi-million ringgit corruptions, they reported. Before that, UMNO members went on the street with a cow head, stepping, and kicking on it because they knew it is the holy animal for the Hindus. Everyone else was blamed on except the culprit itself.

When the court first read its final verdict on the recent Allah's case, UMNO knew what it had to do. Seize the chance and creating turmoil among Malaysians. That's their ultimate aim.
By allowing illegal gatherings and demonstrations, Hishamuddin showed how the Barisan Nasional government can accept humiliations towards other people's religions. And now, churches have been attacked.... explosives marred the buildings of the prayer grounds of the Christians........ The victims can only ask for help in their silent prayers, because they have no one to turn to for help...not even their own government can do a thing about it..

Violence involving both religious issues and religious organizations is gonna turn really really bad.
When people fight,people cry. Religious problems will be further amplified by the current racial tension among Malaysians.

But from afar, Malaysians could hear someone clapping their hands and cheering for the never-ending racial politics in this country...... and 1Malaysia will forever remains a lie and the slogan will continue to fool Malaysians for another few decades..... just like its cousin, Malaysia Boleh.

MALAYSIANS MUST REMAIN STRONG AND UNITED. WE BELIEVE WE CAN RESIST BARISAN NASIONAL AND KICK RACISM OUT OF OUR BELOVED MALAYSIA.

IGP confirms three churches hit

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 8 — Police are urging for calm as they secure churches nationwide, after three were attacked with firebombs in separate pre-dawn incidents in the Klang Valley, which have been linked to protests against the recent “Allah” ruling.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan confirmed the attacks, saying the first attack was by motorcyclists who threw a helmet filled with flammable liquid at the Metro Tabernacle Church in Desa Melawati, causing a fire that burned books and chairs near here, at midnight. Its administrative office was gutted in the attack.

He confirmed that they have identified one suspect who was seen by a guard at the church, which is part of the Assemblies of God.

“This is not a well-planned, coordinated attack so people should not be scared,” he told reporters at Bukit Aman here.

The second attack was at about 4am at the Church of Assumption in Petaling Jaya, where a Molotov cocktail thrown by a motorcyclist failed to break and explode. There were several Catholics attending a prayer session at the time, police added.

The third incident took place at the Life Chapel Church in Section 17, Petaling Jaya at 9am, where two Molotov cocktails, also thrown by a motorcyclist, exploded to blacken the walls of the porch and upper-storey window of the two-storey church building.

Musa also confirmed that he has a received a phone call from an undisclosed church saying there have been threats against them.

The national police chief had directed his men to be alert nationwide and all patrol teams to monitor churches since 6pm yesterday.

“I advise all the churches to make police reports if they receive any threats or they can contact me directly at 019-282-3701,” Musa said.

Musa said that the motives of the attack are still unknown. Police forensic teams and fire investigators have swung into action searching for clues in the three attacks.

The top cop also warned the demonstrators that the police will take the necessary action and every means to ensure national security including using the Internal Security Act (ISA) to dampen rising tension in the country.

"I will do whatever is needed to ensure that the country is safe," he promised.

He reiterated that the demonstrations being planned after Friday prayers today were illegal as no permits have been issued.

"I have told all of my officers to monitor all the mosques in the country, especially those that will have the demonstrations," he said.

He said that every individual, including those writing blogs including updates in the social networking website Facebook, will be investigated for sedition if they flamed sentiments and encouraged people to break the law.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein also condemned the attacks.

"I am assuring not only minorities but all Malaysians that they are safe. The issue of race and religion is always sensitive and it is not something new to Malaysia.

"We saw the signs, signals, warning after the court made its decision. We have been monitoring the situation," he said.

He added that the government has always and will engage with religious leaders in the country which is in line with the prime minister's vision of 1 Malaysia.

Hishamuddin again denied he and the PM had condoned the planned demonstrations.

"We never said that the demonstration could go on, do not put words in my mouth," he said. Hishammuddin and Najib, who are cousins, have said over the past few days that Muslim groups have a right to express their feelings about the “Allah” ruling but they should not break the law.

Hishammauddin also laughed off allegations made by Pakatan Rakyat that the Umno-led government should take responsibility for the spate of church attacks.

"If they want to blame us for the attacks, then the Pakatan Selangor government should take responsibility (because all the attacks happened in the state)," he said.

10、王子与名模的走调婚姻

在马来西亚这个国度，外劳被虐并非新鲜事，但今年却爆发一宗引起印尼举国民愤的虐待案。事关案件主角竟是印尼名模马诺哈拉（Manohara Odelia Pinot）与她的王子夫婿东姑法克立（Tengku Muhammad Fakhry ）。

拥有法国血统的马诺哈拉是在5月份指控，自己被吉兰丹三王子夫婿虐待、绑架和强暴，更声称王子夫婿待她如同“动物”一般，进而成为马印媒体的焦点。

这名17岁的名模在母亲的协助下，于探望患病的苏丹家翁期间，戏剧性地逃离丈夫的掌控，回到印尼作出隔海大揭露。她在印尼不断接受当地媒体的访问，一一道出这幕“逃妻记”的过程，直如惊心动魄的电影情节。

王子与名模都各执一方，最后选择对簿公堂。而法庭的判决是，马诺哈拉必须执行妻子义务，回到丈夫三王子东姑法克里的身边，并偿还111万2250令吉的巨额欠款。

现年31岁的东姑法克里虽然胜出这场官司，不料不久后却被担任摄政王的胞兄东姑法立兹（Tengku Faris）除名，撤除他在王位继承理事会的名字。

东姑法克立不甘就范，已经入禀法庭作出反击，挑战王兄这项决定，以致在丹州王室虐妻风波外，再上演一出王位继承斗争的戏码。

后续发展：预计王室秘闻仍将成为明年新闻焦点，与此同时，我们也相信，外劳被虐的丑闻仍会层出不穷。

9、朝令夕改的数理英化政策

在掀起连年的争议后，政府终于在今年7月宣布，废除前首相马哈迪一力推行的6年英语教数理政策，并将于2012年重新恢复小学母语教数理。

在新政策下，国小将会恢复以马来文教数理，华小与淡小则分别以华语及淡米尔语教授数理科。

回顾6年前，马哈迪是在他即将退位之际，匆匆执行英语教数理政策。这项政策很快掀起两极反应，赞它者固然有之，但更多的是，来自学界与民间的巨大反弹和批评。

以马来作家和语言学家为主的学者们，成立了废除数理英化联盟（GMP），准备与这项争议性政策，进行长期对抗。

在3月7日这一天，该联盟更成功动员8000人之众，走上街头向政府呛声。政府虽然一如既往地采以武力镇压手段，唯示威者最后还是通过代表，顺利把反对数理英化的备忘录，提呈给国家皇宫。

虽然政府已经多次宣称，废除数理英化政策并非向压力低头，不过更令人相信的是，首相纳吉不惜冒着开罪马哈迪的风险，重新回到母语教数理，必定有他要照顾马来基本盘的政治考量。

后续发展：马哈迪依然坚持自己压根儿没错，我们预计这名前强人首相，将会继续以强悍的作风，瞄准那些所谓的“背叛者”开炮。

8、警察保护还是“杀人”？

有些东西就是无法改变。在2003与2004年，警方滥权的行为成为了我们的年度十大新闻之一。今年，它又再次入选。

踏入2009年不久，我国扣留所内又再添上一笔嫌犯暴毙的纪录。这名印裔青年古甘（Kugan Ananthan），被指涉及数项发生在梳邦再也的偷车案，于1月15日遭到逮捕与扣留在梳邦大班（Taipan）警察局。不料，他却在20日早上被发现倒毙在扣留所内。

验尸报告显示，古甘在死前曾被人虐打。迫于压力之下，总检察长阿都甘尼不得不宣布，把古甘猝死案列为谋杀案处理，再于相隔10个月后，把一名警员提控上庭。

除了古甘以外，另一名印裔青年古纳瑟卡兰（R Gunesegaran）及众多的非法移民等，都被发现在扣留所内离奇毙命。

最新的争议则是，警方在执法期间，何时该开枪的准则问题。在11月份，就有5名印裔嫌犯遭枪毙，掀起警方滥杀无辜的争议。

过后，其中一名嫌犯的姐姐因为无法接受痛失胞弟的事实，而携带4名孩子一起喝除草剂自杀。

后续发展：不论古甘案的嫌犯是否会受到法庭裁决，都不会改变国人的印象，大家只会觉得，那名被提控的警察只是一名代罪羔羊。

7、牛头示威谁最终被对付？

一场只有50人的小型示威，却成为媒体的头条焦点，原因是这场示威，以血淋淋的牛头凸显出我国这个多元种族国家，依然有许多的敏感地带。

这群示威者是因为不满雪州政府批准一间兴都庙迁移至沙亚南第23区，而携带一个血淋淋的牛头，到雪州政府大厦前举行一场“牛头示威”，结果引起举国哗然。

对于兴都教徒而言，牛只是种神圣的动物。这项过激的行为，无可避免成为众矢之的，以致内政部长希山慕丁不得不介入此事。

不料，这名巫统部长却没有严惩示威者，反而选择袒护他们，更斥责《当今大马》上载这段示威短片。

随后，大马通讯及多媒体委员会（MCMC）更插上一脚，调查《当今大马》，以致这个新闻网站的多名编辑、记者与技术人员，遭到当局的数次造访和盘问。

至于那12名牛头示威者，则在煽动法令下被控上庭。这也是少数几宗巫统支持者，被控以煽动罪的个案。然而当在案件过堂之后，他们却在法庭外踩踏印有行动党领袖牛头肖像的布条，被抨击为冥顽不悟。

后续发展：留意通讯及多媒体委员会会否不顾众议，依然固执地向《当今大马》采取行动。也得关注，该批牛头示威者被控上庭后，会否真正受到裁决。

6．赵明福命案含冤待雪

在今年年中，正当坊间流传国阵企图仿效霹雳政变，进一步夺取雪州政权之际，反贪污委员会针对选区拨款舞弊疑案对雪州民联议员展开调查。

在这样的调查下，行动党雪州行政议员欧阳捍华的政治助理赵明福在7月15日，遭反贪会官员带回沙亚南商业大厦14楼的雪州总部录供。但翌日，他却离奇在该大楼坠楼身亡，陈尸在5楼的阳台。

这宗命案立即撼动了全国，在野党和民间纷纷要求设立皇家委员会彻查，并且抨击反贪会，认为后者必须对此命案负责。结果在17日，民联在雪州反贪会总部前发动集会示威，但遭到警方驱散，多名民联议员和助理亦被捕并遭致伤。

在强大的舆论压力下，首相纳吉不得不于7月22日宣布，设立一个由推事主持的验尸庭，以便鉴定赵明福的死因；此外，也设立一个具有特定权限的皇家委员会，探讨反贪污委员会所采用的盘问手法，并且鉴定反贪会在盘问赵明福的过程中是否侵犯人权。

验尸庭在7月底开始审讯，本地法医供证指向赵明福乃跳楼自杀，例如凯鲁阿兹曼（Khairul Azman Ibrahim）就表示，赵明福遗体上的所有22个伤势都是从高处坠下造成，也没有出现任何因为挣扎或自卫所造成的明显伤势。

另一方面，赵家和在野党则力指赵明福的死跟反贪会有关，他们找来一名证人指控反贪会奉行虐打逼供的行为。随后在10月21日，雪州政府邀请介入的泰国法医普缇供证，她的供词给案件投下震撼弹。

普缇指赵明福有八成机会是被他杀。她当时说明，赵明福的头盖骨裂痕是由硬物敲击所致及怀疑曾遭人掐着喉咙，也推测说赵明福撞上五楼屋顶时仍活着，但可能已经失去意识。除此之外，赵的肛门有硬物插入所致的裂痕。

如此一来，赵家向验尸庭申请二度验尸。当局在11月21日开棺，并且在翌日在本地法医、英国华聂兹斯和泰国普缇法医合作下，重新检验赵明福遗体。

不过，由于第二次验尸报告未能及时完成，因此原定12月续审的验尸庭，已被迫两次宣布展延。

后续发展：验尸庭明年才会续审，届时备受瞩目的第二次验尸报告才会公诸于世，但它能够会给这起命案定调的可能性不大。种种迹象显示，验尸庭调查结果最终可能是摸棱两可，让赵明福的死因继续围绕着种种疑团。

5．补选、补选再补选

2008年的政治海啸，以及今年接踵而来的8场补选仍不断纠缠国阵，其中它输掉了6次的政治对决。

在守土补选战役当中，国阵轻松地保住其两个州议席，巴当艾和峇眼槟榔，但是它却丢失了一个登嘉楼堡垒区——瓜登国会议席，让回教党再下一城。

值得一提的是，尽管未能取得胜利，但国阵在玛力勿莱补选成功狠削回教党的多数票，让回教党从上一届的1352张多数票，仅剩惊险的65票过关。

今年的最后一场补选，峇眼槟榔州议席补选，当地老树盘根的国阵候选人依沙，突破曾涉及金钱政治的阴影，并拉拢华印选民回流，成功以创新高的多数票胜出。这次的补选成绩给民联敲响了一记的警钟。

另一边厢，民联的5场守土战完全告捷，而且除玛力勿莱和峇东巴西州议席补选外，其余者均以更大的多数票胜出，包括武吉士南卯州席、本南地州席和武吉干当国席。

后续发展：砂拉越州选举即将到来，国阵与民联鹿死谁手，让人充满许多悬念。但更使人好奇的是，未来的第13届大选，国阵是否能够收复丢失的州政权，以及其国会三分二优势，又抑或，将再掀起另一波更大的政治海啸，来埋葬其政权。

4．“丑闻之母”自贸区弊案

“丑闻之母”——这个由反对党领袖赐予的称号，反映了自贸区弊案的严重性，不仅因为它涉及天文数字的纳税人公款，也包括所牵涉的范围和人物之广，从巫统地方领袖到两名前交通部长，以及国阵后座议员理事会主席。

自贸区在1999年推出时，原是一项价值19亿6000万令吉的大型工程，目标是要将巴生港口打造为区域船运枢纽。媒体在2007年开始揭发工程弊端，包括工程成本急速膨胀的问题，政府也在该年宣布提供高达46亿令吉的低息拨款来拯救这个白象计划。

政府开始时采取一贯的“否认症候群”态度，除了国会公共账目委员会展开初步调查，当时的反贪污局和警方都对此案视而不见，反对党进行的报案和提出的问题皆吃闭门羹。

一直到国阵在308大选面对空前挫折，以及翁诗杰受委交通部长后，事件才重新出现曙光，内部调查开始进行。翁诗杰当选马华总会长后，为了重新擦亮本身与马华的招牌，他更积极推动自贸区的调查工作。

交通部成立了一个又一个的调查团，公布了一份又一份的报告，甚至点名涉案的高级公务员和政治人物，促使执法机构必须采取跟进行动。首相纳吉较后也宣布，将调查工作交由一个跨部门的超级专案小组进行。

在今年12月，自贸区弊案曝光两年后，总检察署终于提控了4名涉案者。但他们都只是公务员与私人界的“小鱼”，并非任何政治人物，反对党与公众还是要求政府对付丑闻背后的“大鱼”。

后续发展：媒体纷纷揣测民都鲁国会议员兼国阵后座议员理事会主席张庆信，以及被公账会点名的前交通部长陈广才，是否将成为首批被控的“大鱼”。目前大家的眼光都聚集在首相纳吉身上，要看他是否真的具有政治决心，将身居高职的幕后黑手绳之以法，真正通过他上台后最关键的其中一项最严峻考验。

3．峰回路转的马华党争

马华党争并非新鲜事，奇就奇在这次的党争战火连绵超过1年，争论点却是所谓的“道德争议”及“领导诚信”问题。更令人注目的是，马华党争从一开始的“翁蔡”对决，却突然转折演变成“翁蔡联手抗廖”的戏码。

此外，当党争正酣时，马华却如读书会般，党内诸公纷纷向华社介绍各种经典读物，从古龙的《流星．蝴蝶．剑》及《三少爷的剑》到琼瑶的《菟丝花》，不过不需人介绍，而仍在上演的却是经典文学《三国演义》。

在去年党选后，马华总会长翁诗杰与署理总会长蔡细历不和的传闻即没停息。到了7月份，马华纪律委员会重翻旧案，针对性爱光碟风波传召蔡细历问话，终于一举点燃党争战火。

这边厢，蔡细历频频高呼政治迫害，重翻性爱光碟案是第二次的政治谋杀；另一边厢，翁诗杰则声称自己被十面埋伏，通过巴生自贸区课题，营造悲情英雄形象，进而集结当权派领袖在帐下备战。

没料到的是，在翁蔡对决一触即发之际，国阵后座议员理事会主席兼自贸区总承包商Kuala Dimensi有限公司首席执行员张庆信也插上一脚，声称他在翁诗杰的要求下，在去年以现金方式，分3次把一千万令吉政治献金交给翁诗杰，以便“充当马华区会的活动基金”，引发贿赂疑云。

更戏剧性的是，面对政治献金指控缠身的翁诗杰，除了矢口否认外，甚至反击指称，目前有党内外势力勾结企图推翻他，其中党内的势力正筹集1亿令吉想开特大“倒翁”。

踏入8月，马华会长理事会经过半夜开会后，令人震惊地宣布开除蔡细历党籍。虽然中委会过后推翻会长理事会决定，为蔡细历减刑，改为只冻结党籍和党职4年，唯蔡派筹备已久的“倒翁特大”已是势在必行。

翁蔡最终在双十特大上正面对决，不料这场特大的结果却出现翁蔡两败俱伤的局面。马华中央代表既通过投翁诗杰领导不信任票的议案，也拒绝恢复蔡细历党职的议案，形成翁蔡齐走的局面。

翁诗杰在特大后请假4天。在这4天内，马华局势瞬息万变，更传出马华二线领袖已开始密谈接班计划的传闻，启动新一轮的政治博弈与领导层洗牌。

4天后，翁诗杰请假归来主持中委会会议，不过他并没如预料般请辞，反而援引党章再召开一场特大，以定夺中委会是否应该重选。该会议也议决，由原任副总会长廖中莱顶替蔡细历，出任新的署理总会长。

随即传出翁诗杰与廖中莱决裂的传闻。善用媒体制造舆论的翁诗杰，更承认众叛亲离，对昔日战友在危急时刻倒戈相向的举动痛心疾首，感叹友情敌不过政治权斗。

在一片逼宫疑云下，翁诗杰砍下法律局主任梁邓忠，接着联袂蔡廖同台，宣布“大团结方案”。

翁诗杰声称，他留下来是因为“个人毁誉事小，社会期待事大”。不过，廖派领袖却针对诚信问题，追击翁诗杰，要求再开特大举行重选。

在受制于廖派集获中委签名召开第二场特大后，翁诗杰却又动用总会长权力，连砍多名廖派大将，并获得当权派领袖背书，指称第二场特大不合法。

有鉴于马华党争一发不可收拾，首相纳吉终于忍不住以“国阵大家长”的身份，宣布介入党争。随后，廖派即宣布取消第二特大，而中委会也同意展延原定于12月6日举行的党大会。

后续发展：不过，正当外界普遍认为马华领导层即将举行重选，不过两派随后却针对两大臂膀是否重选陷入僵局，甚至传出多名中委也无意辞职重选，导致重选似乎又变成不可能了，虽然廖派已经率先提呈13名中委的辞职信。如此一来，这一场从2008年党选即开始的党争，似乎也将延烧至2010年才有机会解决。

2. 纳吉新政挑战：从潜水艇到战斗机引擎

尽管在充满争议和不受看好的情况下接棒，新首相纳吉确实带来一片新气象，一改过去6年来阿都拉主政下的政治颓势。

阿都拉的软弱领导让巫统群雄并起逼宫，纳吉因此捡了便宜而坐正。而现任副首相慕尤丁更是当初围城的急先锋。纳吉在3月26日正式坐上巫统主席位子，而且于4月3日在国家皇宫宣誓就任，成为我国第六任首相。

为了打造亲民全民形象，纳吉在上台翌日，即释放了13名内安法令扣留人，其中包括两名兴权会领袖。他也承诺将重新探讨内安法令。

纳吉不久后也推出“一个马来西亚，以民為先，即刻表現” 口号，作为自己的治国标志，企图给人耳目一新的新形象。他也高调地走访吉隆坡各个拥有明显种族色彩的地区，例如茨场街及十五碑等地，突出与民同在的作风。

但是，这位新首揆却没有太久的蜜月期，蒙古女郎命案等丑闻继续如影随形，而且他也被指控是国阵霹雳政变的幕后黑手。另外，源自美国的世界金融风暴也袭击了这个国家，迫使政府启动经济振兴配套救市，让国库更捉衿见肘。

去年7月曾发表宣誓书指控纳吉跟蒙古女郎有性关系的私家侦探巴拉，在推翻不到24小时寿命的指控，并举家消失一年多后，再次现身网路，重拾旧指控，并且指控自己遭到纳吉胞弟纳兹因，以及首相夫人罗斯玛相熟的地毯商人迪巴的刑事恐吓，而不得不撤回当初指控。

此外，公正党峇都国会议员蔡添强在年底更揭发，罗斯玛在2008年8月间，在杜拜接受一笔从大马通过钱币兑换商非法汇出的60万令吉款项。

纳吉出任国防部长期间所爆发的军火丑闻仍然纠缠不去，从蒙古女郎案所牵扯到潜水艇交易，到最近才对外公布的2台F5E老虎战斗机引擎失窃事件，使到举国震惊。

F－5E 战斗机引擎每台价值5000万令吉，在2007年6月放置在新街场空军基地货仓时发现失窃，同时其该台发动机的维修记录文件也不知所终，而11月第二台同型号发动机被送往维修时也失窃，让皇家空军同时面临1亿令吉的损失。

警方已经鉴定4名空军人员可能涉及失窃案，其中一人是拥有高军阶的军官。虽然警方将失窃案列为刑事失信处理，可是根据军事法律，失职者将被控上军事法庭。国防部长阿末查希誓言以叛国罪来提控涉案人士。虽然早前报道指一名准将因为此案被革职，但是国防部却罕见地高调否认这名军官涉案，不过许多读者却质疑国防部没有全盘托出真相。

在野党已呼吁国防部长成立国会特别委员会或皇家调查委员会彻查，以及建议总稽查师应该即刻检查国防部武器库存、后勤、管理、运输及程序，并向国会提呈完整的报告。（编按；感谢读者回馈，补上了战斗机引擎失窃一案）

后续发展：面对世界经济不景、外来投资锐减和石油即将枯竭的困境，纳吉必须有过人的领导能力才能够带领这个国家杀出重围，重拾经济繁荣。在政治方面，纳吉也仍有待具体兑现其全民政治口号，同时力挡巫统右派的扯后腿和反扑。若纳吉在政经方面改革上，不能拿出大作为，那么他势必步上阿都拉的后尘，而国阵政权也可能因此而断送。

1．霹州政变，双包戏码不绝

毫无疑问的，霹雳州政变是本年度最重大的新闻。

国阵在今年2月策动3名民联议员，包括行动党籍九洞州议员许月凤、公正党籍美冷州议员贾玛鲁丁及章吉遮令州议员莫哈末奥斯曼退党，宣布成为亲国阵独立议员，夺取在去年308大选后落入民联手中的州政权。

这次的政变引爆多次的议会和政治冲突，以及极具指标意义的司法诉讼。政治角力延烧到政府机关和街头，包括国阵新任大臣赞比里就职时，民联支持者在皇宫外抗议；两名大臣抢办公室、官车和官邸；议长在“民主之树”下召开议会；5月7日州议会之际，议长被闯入的不明暴徒强行拉离席位，议场内两方肢体冲突，议场外警方大肆逮捕民联抗议群众等。

根据宪法学者的说法，这场风波就涉及至少13个宪法和法律上的争议，包括议员跳槽、没有日期的辞职信、苏丹革除大臣的权力、议长决定议席悬空和冻结议员的权力、州议会革除议长的程序、“背叛苏丹”，以及警方阻扰议员执行任务等等。

民联发动的法律诉讼包括：挑战选举委员会拒绝承认霹雳议长西华古玛宣布3名退党议员悬空的决定；民联原任大臣尼查挑战国阵新任州务大臣赞比里的合法性。

不过，法院随后做成的裁决均有利于国阵，更颠覆了人们过去对苏丹、议长、州务大臣和选举委员会权力的见解。

在民间，霹雳州民开始面对困惑的两难处境，两个州政府、两个议长、两个州务大臣，甚至在特定时刻，还可以看到双包州议会在同一个屋檐下同时进行。

4月7日的武吉干当补选更被视为是选民对霹雳政变的“公投”，显然民意是站到民联那里，尼查在以更大的多数票狂胜，当选国会议员。不过，由于国阵掌握了州政府机关，因此它断然拒绝民间和在野党要求重新选举的要求。

后续发展：霹雳民联领袖冀望能扭转乾坤的大臣双包案则仍等待联邦法院的裁决。尽管该裁决举足轻重，不过那也将是暂时的，因为霹雳州民才该是最终裁决者。

Finally someone got charged and brought to the court of justice. The PKFZ had indeed cost taxpayers billions of ringgits, and just like many other corruption cases in Malaysia, those who have been charged are only the ikan bilis. So far, the ministerial level individuals who condoned and involved in this shameful scandal are still at large. The abuse of power had definitely happened, but the government took its first step to legally clear themselves of any wrong doings with the help of MACC.

The whole Port Klang Free Zone scandal is not this simple; without the guarantee of protection and participation of the government, such multi-million-dollars crime could never happen just like that. It's just not convincing enough that a few engineers or architects are the masterminds behind everything happened.

Former Kuala Dimensi engineer charged

KLANG, Dec 14 — A former engineer with Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd (KDSB), the turnkey contractor of the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ), was brought to the Sessions Court here this morning and charged with 24 counts of cheating in connection with the PKFZ scandal.

Law Jenn Dong, 51, is jointly accused with Bernard Tan, an architect with BT Architect, who was charged last week for cheating involving RM122.3 million.

Law is accused of making 24 false claims involving a total sum of RM122.267 million. He claimed trial.

Bail was set at RM250,000 by Sessions Court judge Yong Sazali and the case will be mentioned on Feb 4.

Tan also faces two other charges of making false claims with KDSB chief operating officer Steven Abok.

Apart from the Tan and Abok, the most senior person charged thus far has been former Port Klang Authority (PKA) general manager OC Phang, who was charged with CBT amounting to RM254 million, to which she claimed trial, last Thursday.

She was granted bail of RM350,000 in one surety. The case will start on Jan 12, on which date she has been asked to surrender her passport.

Abok and Tan's case meanwhile will be mentioned on Feb 4. They have also been released on bail.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail had also given his assurance that more people will be charged in relation to PKFZ.

"The charging of other individuals will come in stages," promised the A-G in a statement on Thursday.

The PKFZ controversy arose after the cost to develop the massive 400-hectare integrated cargo distribution hub spiralled from RM2 billion to RM4.6 billion.

Law is accused of cheating PKA into endorsing payment to KDSB for electrical infrastructure work which allegedly was not carried out.

If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years’ jail, whipping and a possible fine for each of the 24 charges.

So far it’s unclear if prominent Barisan Nasional (BN) politicians such as former Transport Minister Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy or Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, who controls KDSB, will face any action.

Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee recently recommended that Chan and Phang be investigated for criminal breach of trust in the PKFZ scandal.

It also recommended investigations into the role of other government officials serving in PKA when the project was being developed. The PAC found both Chan and Phang to have breached the Financial Procedure Act 1957 by issuing three letters of support and three letters of undertaking without the approval of the Finance Ministry.

The PKA sued Phang on Oct 8 for breach of duties in connection with the scandal-plagued PKFZ project.

40 students and teachers from SMJK Jit Sin escaped unhurt after one of the six buses heading to Genting Highland yesterday tipped over.

（吉隆坡23日讯）40名槟州大山脚日新国中师生前往云顶参加校际管弦乐队比赛，巴士上山途中突然失控往后退，并撞入路边沟渠复翻侧，所幸未造成人命伤亡事件。

这辆学校巴士是于周一早上7时15分，连同另外7辆来自槟州其他学校的巴士从大山脚出发，准备前往云顶参加比赛。

4个小时后，肇祸巴士在雪州巴冬加里朝云顶方向第18公里处的路段时，巴士司机换档上山，巴士却不听使唤突然往后退，并撞入路边的沟渠，再翻侧在斜坡上。

据了解，肇祸巴士当时排在第6辆，所幸并没有波及其他巴士。另外，所幸巴士撞击力不大，否则后果不堪设想。

巴士上的师生逃出巴士后，转乘一辆途经现场、属于某政府部门的大型货柜罗里前往云顶缆车站乘搭缆车继续行程。

日新国中校长陈金忠：师生有惊无险　明返大山脚

（大山脚23日讯）40名大山脚日新国民型中学管弦队名师生有惊无险，全数安然无恙，后日则返大山脚。

于今早从大山脚前往云顶表演的大山脚40名日新国中管弦队，在下午上山时，在半山腰发生事故，酿成学巴翻覆，幸全数无恙，饱受惊吓及皮外伤，后天将返回大山脚。

大山脚日新国中校长陈金忠周一晚在接受电话询问时如是向本报透露。

陈校长表示，38名学生与2名老师都无恙，只受点惊吓，后天在表演完毕后，则返回大山脚。惟进一步的详情，他也不多作透露。

No serious injury was reported and everyone managed to crawl out from the overturned vehicle.

Teoh body exhumed

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21 — The exhumation of Teoh Beng Hock’s body for a second autopsy, ordered by the inquest into his recent death, has been completed. The exhumation comes following the testimony of Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand that the death of the political aide was very likely a homicide.

A team of over ten police forensic experts had earlier cordoned off the grave area with the aid of several cemetery workers, who are helping with the exhumation.

Teoh’s family members arrived earlier, and began offering rites to the departed’s spirit. A feng shui master explained that the time of the exhumation had been chosen specifically to coincide with swallows beginning the day, for good luck.

Dr Pornthip is also on the scene to observe the exhumation process.

Also present were two other forensic experts — Dr Shahidan Md Noor, who is chief pathologist at the Sungai Buloh Hospital, and UK pathologist hired by the MACC, Dr Peter Venezis.

Following the prayer rituals, the casket was successfully disinterred and displayed to the media present, before being covered in plastic sheets.

The family’s lawyer, Gobind Singh Deo, said that all parties involved were satisfied with the way the exhumation was performed and added that Teoh’s body was still in good condition for the second autopsy.

Dr Shahidan along with Dr Pornthip are expected to carry out an X-ray examination on the body later.

The casket containing the body has been transported to the hospital, which will be the site of the second autopsy scheduled to run from 9.30am to noon tomorrow.

Gobind said lawyers representing Teoh’s family will also be there to hold a watching brief.

“This is to ensure that no complications will come in the future, so it’s better to make sure everything is alright now,” explained Gobind, who is also Puchong MP.

Teoh’s former employer, Selangor state executive councillor Ean Yong Hian Wah, said at the cemetery: “I hope the second autopsy will reveal the truth.”

Yong also stated his desire to know how much the government spent hiring the UK pathologist, Dr Venezis — one of two foreign pathologists, along with Dr Pornthip, who will be observing the second autopsy.

Teoh’s sister, Lee Lan, leads the procession at today’s exhumation.

He said it was of public interest that the amount paid to hire the foreign expert be disclosed, as public funds were used to procure his services.

Dr Venezis, who serves as a director at the Cameron Centre for Forensic Medical Sciences in London, has handled over 2,000 autopsy cases involving sudden death, of which 1,500 were found to be homicides.

“The fact that they hired a foreign expert shows they have no confidence in the local pathologists,” Yong added.

DAP’s Lim Kit Siang and Ronnie Lie were also in attendance. Both expressed hope that a fresh autopsy will reveal who or what “killed” Teoh.

Lim also added that Teoh’s death may have been a contributing factor towards Malaysia’s worst ever placing in the Transparency International Corruption Perception Index.

PI Bala Claims Second SD Made Under Threat To Family

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 17 — Missing private investigator P. Balasubramaniam is now saying he rescinded a statutory declaration (SD) linking Datuk Seri Najib Razak to a murdered Mongolian model after his family was threatened within a day of his statement in July 2008.

Bala also related in an interview carried by the Malaysia-Today.net news portal today that he left the country for Singapore the same day of his second SD and later for Bangkok.

He stressed that he signed the second SD without even reading it.

The former policeman also claimed he was given the equivalent of RM20,000 in Hong Kong dollars for expenses as he and his family were due to go to the Chinese city. However, they switched destinations to Chennai.

In the second part of an interview filed under the column of fugitive blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin, Bala said the entire process of repudiating the first SD was coordinated by a businessman named Deepak, whom Raja Petra claims is a close associate of Najib’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

The first part of the interview was carried last week and included an 88-second video clip. Bala’s confession came about as he was a witness in the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder trial by virtue of being a private detective hired to keep watch over her by political strategist Abdul Razak Baginda, who was acquitted of plotting his former lover’s death.

“I was concerned for the safety of my family. Deepak had informed me he wanted me to retract my first statutory declaration and then to immediately leave the country with my family,” said Bala in reply to questions in the interview.

“I was in a state of shock as to what was happening. I had anticipated that I would be arrested and interrogated after releasing my first statutory declaration but I did not anticipate my family would be threatened so I was not prepared for this.

“As this VIP Datuk was also involved, I realised the situation was very serious,” he said without naming the person.

Bala then related how he went home and explained to his wife that they were leaving Malaysia immediately, instructing her to apply for passports for their children and to renew her own passport.

He added he arranged for them to also take their luggage along so that they could leave soon after the passports were issued.

Bala then followed a police officer friend, who was suspended from duty, to the Hilton KL to meet Deepak and the businessman’s brother, Dinesh, were he told them he preferred going to Chennai rather than Hong Kong.

“Deepak agreed to this. He then tried to arrange a private jet for us. This had to be cancelled when it was realised we would have to go through immigration at the airport.

“Deepak then suggested we go through Singapore by road, and then fly to Bangkok en route to Chennai. I agreed,” he added.

Bala said the conversation then turned to the seriousness of the first SD and that he had to retract it or “otherwise they could not guarantee anything if the deal failed”.

He also claimed that Deepak bragged about being close to Rosmah as she frequented the businessman’s carpet shop in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman in Kuala Lumpur.

Bala said at 7.45am on July 3, someone delivered a draft copy of the second statutory declaration to the hotel, which Deepak picked up.

He said he was then asked sign the new statutory declaration in front of a Malay man who was said to be a commissioner for oaths and who attested his signature. Once this was done, Deepak left in a separate car.

“I was never given an opportunity to read the contents of this statutory (declaration),” Bala stressed.

Bala explained he and Dinesh then went to the Prince Hotel in Kuala Lumpur where they met with Deepak again, who introduced him to “Mr Arunampalam”, a lawyer.

“This lawyer spoke to me and told me to just keep quiet in the press conference arranged for us in the main lobby. He told me not to talk to any of the reporters under any circumstances and that he would do all the talking,” he added.

He claimed Deepak then told Arunampalam to answer not more than three questions from the reporters waiting downstairs and handed him a few copies of the second statutory declaration to distribute.

Bala said both Arunampalam and he took the lift down to the main lobby, where they met four or five reporters.

“Mr. Arunampalam talked to them and gave each of them a copy second statutory declaration. He told the reporters that I had been forced to sign the first statutory declaration under duress and that I now wanted to retract the contents,” he claimed, adding the lawyer refused to answer questions asked by the reporters.

Bala said the lawyer then drove him back to the Hilton KL and that he never saw the man again.

Asked if he had engaged the lawyer, Bala said, “No. I have never met this lawyer before. Deepak was the one who arranged for him to represent me at the press conference. I never told him what to say. All this was arranged by Deepak and not myself.”

He said he then went back to a hotel room where Deepak gave him RM20,000 worth of Hong Kong dollars for expenses.

“He told me he had arranged a tourist van to drive me and my family to Singapore where we were to catch a flight to Bangkok,” said Bala, who then went to pick up his family at the Pusat Bandar Damansara immigration office and left immediately for Singapore by road.

“The driver stopped at the Malaysian immigration at the causeway and we all had to get out of the van to present our passports at the counter. None of our passports were stamped,” he said, adding they then cleared Singapore immigration and headed for the Changi international airport.

He said he then changed some money to call Deepak about their Bangkok flight and was told the tickets were at the Silkair counter.

“We all caught the evening flight to Bangkok, which left Singapore at about 8.00pm,” Bala said.

The news portal is to publish more of the interview in the coming weeks.

There has been no official reaction from Najib and family over Bala’s claims but some pro-Umno bloggers have poured scorn over the latest allegations as an opposition smear campaign to unseat the prime minister.

PI Bala claims offered RM5m to retract statement

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 — Missing private investigator P. Balasubramaniam has claimed in a video clip that he was offered RM5 million to retract his statutory declaration that linked Datuk Seri Najib Razak to murdered Mongolian model Altantuya Shaaribuu, reigniting allegations that the prime minister has vehemently denied.

Balasubramaniam's claims were aired in an undated 88-second video clip today hosted by the Malaysia-Today.net website whose main contributor is the fugitive blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin. The first statutory declaration (SD) was also put up with the video clip.

"Deepak actually came to see me because he want me to retract my first SD... After that he offered me RM5 million for me to retract the SD," Balasubramaniam said in the video clip, referring to a person whom Raja Petra says is linked to Najib's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

Balasubramaniam, a former police officer, disappeared with his family on July 4, 2008 after making a second SD that overturned the first declaration. His location remains unknown until now.

The Malaysia-Today.net website said there will be more video clips featuring the Balasubramaniam interview. In the first part, the private investigator also claimed he was asked to go to Putrajaya to meet certain individuals over his SD.

"He was asking me to go to Putrajaya with him but he never mentioned whom he wanted me to meet in Putrajaya," Balasubramaniam said, referring to the country's administrative capital.

Balasubramaniam's two SDs had rocked the murder trial of Altantuya, who was killed on Oct 19, 2006. Three people, including political and defence strategist Abdul Razak Baginda, were arrested for plotting her death.

Abdul Razak, who admitted to an affair with the Mongolian model who also acted as an interpreter, claimed he did not order her death but wanted the policemen to stop her from harassing or blackmailing him over their affair.

He was acquitted without his defence being called while the two policemen charged, Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, were sentenced to the gallows for killing her.

Balasubramaniam was initially hired by Abdul Razak to keep watch over Altantuya's movements when she was in Kuala Lumpur to allegedly blackmail the political strategist, who is a known close associate of then Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Najib.

His first SD was announced in a press conference with opposition leaders on July 2, 2008 but a day later, he stunned the country when a different lawyer brandished a second SD that overturned the contents of the first declaration.

Balasubramaniam then went missing, according to his nephew who claims his uncle is now in an undisclosed location.

I have so little faith in MACC that I dont even think the ex-ministers alledged of being part of the PKFZ scandal will be brought to the court. MACC is again trying to prove itself worthy to the society; by targeting on small political aides or the most, an MP.

While people like Lingam and Mahathir who enjoyed their political careers by unlawfully influencing our nation's judiciary system are still at large, can MACC really be trusted in carrying out unbiased investigations on the current cases in their hands?

Innocent lives have been sacrificed under the ruthless effort of our government to regain majority control over the country. Cover-ups, aquittals of big business figures and ministers are still going on right now. How much more damages our country can take before falling into the third world category?

Shoot the big shots, MACC, not the sparrows.

MACC needs wins, not just big sweeps

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will put another low-level politician in the dock today after six on Tuesday but all these occasional headline-grabbing sweeps will come to naught if it fails to secure one conviction.
After all, its success is few and far in between.

Much has been invested in the MACC, from stringent laws and punishments to special courts to fast-track the process against the corrupt who have lived off profitable relationship between government and business or where rules and regulations require palms to be greased.

It can happen with someone low in the hierarchy like an office-boy or an assistant to someone at the top of the ladder like a chief executive officer, an accountant, a magistrate or even a minister.
Malaysians just have to remember names like Tan Sri Eric Chia, Tan Sri Kasitah Gaddam, Datuk Saidin Thamby and other high-profile cases of corruption that made the headlines over the past years. All ended in acquittals.

The point to be learnt here is that dragging politicians to court and getting headlines is something Malaysians have seen before. It is as seasonal as the durians or the haze that smothers Malaysia annually.

There shouldn't be much political capital made of capturing such miscreants. It is part of the job and not the entire job of eradicating corruption.

After all in Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's election manifesto in Election 2008, his report card as it was called, the country's fifth prime minister was proud of the fact that the then Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) was investigating more cases.
One cannot tell if the ACA was investigating more cases or that the cases were growing faster than they could be prevented or eradicated.

Another point worth considering is the fact that some of those charged with graft involve measly sums for mundane things like ordering flags for RM2,400. How about those in Mara who purchased two notebook computers for RM84,640?

And what about those who approved buying the land for the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) for 67 per cent more than they could have? The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report is just the latest in a series of reports and allegations made over the years for this case.

What happened to the big fish? What happened to federal ministers who are quite clearly living beyond their means, let alone state leaders who live opulent lifestyles within a short time of government appointments.

When will they get to see their day in court? If ever.
And finally, can Malaysians surmise that only because of the fallout from Teoh Beng Hock's death that the MACC is trying to be even handed. That it is also looking at those from the ruling federal coalition apart from the few among their political rivals.

But going after small men in Umno/Barisan Nasional while allowing those who have gorged at the trough does not cut it as strong action to curb corruption.

The MACC has to do more. It has to get the big fish. It has to get the convictions that will keep the corrupt locked away for a long time as an example to those who think there are easy ways of making money.

Only then Malaysians will have the conviction to trust the MACC.

The Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia Roadshow, which has been planned as a full-day event, hits Penang on that day.

We will kick off the event with a half-day youth workshop “Ada Apa Dengan Bangsa?” that morning, anchored by our smart partner, KOMAS. Participants will be urged to explore our identity, who we really are and what we believe in as Malaysians.

Numbers at the youth workshop, which is scheduled to start sharp at 9.00am, to be conducted with a mix of both Bahasa Malaysia and English, will be limited to 30 participants so that there will be greater scope for interaction.

The SABM forum, simply entitled “Bring Along A Friend”, kicks off in the afternoon, tentatively scheduled to start at 2.30pm, with the screening of “Sepuluh Tahun Sebelum Merdeka”, an excellent documentary by Fahmi Reza, who will himself be at the forum to share some of his thoughts with us. The documentary gives an insight into the state of politics some 10 years before Malaya attained independence from the British. This documentary makes for an excellent backdrop for the forum and Q & A session that will follow immediately after.

A panel of speakers is being assembled to deliver some thought-provoking ideas whereafter participants will be given ample time during the Q & A session to get in on the healthy discussion that we hope will happen. The names of panellists will be announced at a later date.

We will serve light refreshments after the forum and Q & A session and then we will be screening KOMAS’ “Gaduh”. If you have not yet watched this short film, this screening in itself may be reason enough for you take make the effort to attend the forum.

Thai expert says Teoh’s death ‘80pc’ homicide

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 — Thai pathologist Dr Porntip Rojanasunan told the coroner’s court this morning that there was an 80 per cent probability that Teoh Beng Hock’s death was homicide and not suicide, and suggested that some of his injuries were sustained before his fatal fall.

Under questioning from Selangor state lawyer, Malik Imtiaz Sarwar, Dr Porntip testified that the political aide was indeed alive when he hit the ground but added that he was unconscious, judging from the lack of injuries to his wrists and ankles.

She explained that if he were still conscious when he fell, there would have been “reaction wounds” to show he had instinctively tried to stop from hitting the ground.

She said that Teoh’s injuries showed he could have been strangled and that he sustained anal penetration before he fell to his death on July 16.

Dr Porntip added that Teoh could have passed out as a result of the strangulation or from the pain from injuries to his anal region.

She told the court that the likelihood that Teoh had committed suicide — the theory previously put forward by the two pathologists who examined Teoh’s body after death — was only 20 per cent.

The stunning testimony made by the forensic expert, who gained international prominence from her work in identifying the 2004 Asian tsunami victims and more recently in the death of Hollywood star David Carradine, appeared to suggest Teoh was assaulted before his death.

Using a graphics presentation, the 54-year-old who has carried out over 10,000 autopsies over the last 27 years, told the court that not all the injuries sustained by Teoh were consistent with those caused by a fall.

The anal tear, which she described as a “penetrating injury”, appeared to have happened before he fell.

Dr Porntip noted that the tear measured 6cm-wide by 2cm-long.

She rejected the idea that the anus was penetrated by a bone fragment, which had been put forward by local pathologist, Dr Khairul Aznam Ibrahim from the Hospital Tengku Rahimah Ampuan in Klang.

She reasoned that if that had happened, the force would have punctured the area opposite its entry and not as what was shown in the autopsy photos taken.

She suggested that they were caused by an object inserted into Teoh’s anus from a bottom-up direction, which she indicated with a blue arrow on a picture slide projected on a white screen in the darkened courtroom this morning.

“This kind of injury, I’ve not seen in cases of fall from height,” the director-general of Thailand’s Central Institute of Forensic Science (CIFS) said.

However, she could not say what the object was.

She also said that the depth of the tear was not measured or mentioned in the autopsy report.

Dr Khairul had jointly written the autopsy report with Indian pathologist Dr Prashant Naresh Samberkar who is currently based at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

Several stripes on Teoh’s upper thighs, just below the buttocks were also pointed out as inconsistent with injuries caused by a fall.

Dr Porntip suggested the horizontal lines were the result of a beating with a stick.

She added that if she had carried out the autopsy on Teoh, she would have cut open the thighs just under the skin to check for internal bleeding in order to confirm her theory.

She also pointed out several “round” bruises on Teoh’s neck, which could mean “manual strangulation” by fingers.

Her lengthy explanation on Teoh’s neck injuries was peppered with graphic references to her own case studies of strangulation victims.

The skull fracture on Teoh’s head, she said, was not typical of an injury from a fall, but more compatible with the result of blunt force applied directly to the skull.

“I found contusion on fracture line, so the fracture could be caused by blunt force injury directly on skull,” she said, explaining why she disagreed with Dr Khairul’s and Dr Prashant’s theory.

The two doctors who performed Teoh’s autopsy had previously put forward the idea that the head injury may have been caused by the momentum of the landing.

“For transfer of force, (you) only find ring fracture at base of the skull along (the) spinal column, not a linear fracture and not a cervical spine fracture,” she added.

She said that her assessment was based on Teoh’s autopsy report, the photographs of his injuries and from snapshots taken at the site where his body was found.

Dr Porntip who had earlier suggested that Teoh may have been dragged before he plunged to his death told the coroner’s court after lunch break that she no longer held the view.

In her testimony earlier, she had contradicted Dr Prashant’s idea that it was caused by the impact on the ground.

She explained that she had been allowed to view the original pictures of the shoe, which are of a better quality than the copies she had been provided, and confirmed that the marks on the sole were indeed caused by the impact when Teoh landed on the hard and rough ground feet first.

She told the court she would like to carry out her own autopsy on Teoh, but magistrate Azmil Muntapha Abas who is acting as coroner in the inquest, indicated that it may be too late to do so at this stage.

Dr Porntip had also previously sent two assistants to join the court to survey where Teoh’s body was found on a 5th-floor landing outside the offices of the Selangor branch of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Plaza Masalam here.

Teoh, who was the political secretary to a DAP state executive councillor, had been questioned overnight on July 15 to help an ongoing investigation into claims his boss had misused state funds.

Dr Porntip was engaged as an expert witness by the Selangor state government.

She had been among the first names suggested to carry out a joint autopsy on Teoh, but was rejected by his family whose reasons remain unknown.

Earlier, she told the court that she had conducted over 10,000 autopsies in her career, of which more than 100 dealt with fatal falls from high places.

She estimated Teoh to have died between 6am and 8am on July 16.

Bagan Pinang by-election is not only a storm ahead of Pakatan Rakyat, but it also signifies that what the rakyats have all along been hoping for; a cleaner government and a better tomorrow for Malaysians, is now under siege.

Malaysians can actually get over the fact that the 1Malaysia propaganda is just a slogan that will only become another laughing stock for other countries; exactly like "Malaysia Boleh". But since Najib become our Prime Minister, I bet most people can feel strong sense of segregation among ourselves. Lies, hatred and racism have again further infiltrated the communities of normal rakyats.

The death of Beng Hock marked the beginning of the actual 1Malaysia concept. Beng Hock's tragic death shook the nation, but UMNO seized this opportunity to instigate suspicions between the Malay and Chinese communities. Soon after that, UMNO did not hesitate to hold another infamous cow-head protest against an Indian temple, insulting the Hindus with a bloody cow head together with racist chantings in the public. Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian stirred up this issue and now, UMNO's agenda to split us apart is near to success when fear and precautions towards the Malays pavilioned the Indian communities.

Please Help Yen Kee

Updates: Yen Kee has just passed away peacefully. All donation activities have ceased few months back. She was expected to undergo a bone marrow transplant procedure but unfortunately, her condition worsened. Let's wish her rest in peace, and remember her as a strong, spirited girl in our silent prayer. 19/11/2010

I was totally taken aback when I read the news about Yen Kee, one of the top students in Jit Sin who scored 11A's in her SPM. She was awarded scholarships to study Medicine in overseas university by Public Service Department after receiving her SPM results, but her dream is so near, yet so far.

Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with Leukemia one year ago, forcing her to relinquish her the golden opportunity to becoming a doctor. She has been undergoing chemotherapy for almost a year and her health conditions improved along with the treatments.
However, its a short-lived joy as her health is deteriorating and cancer is again threatening her life.

Her father, a small construction contractor has almost used up all his lifetime savings to save her daughter, hoping that chemotherapy would bring back Yen Kee a normal life. Till now, the family has already spent more than RM70,000 to ensure Yen Kee can receive proper treatments.

Now with her conditions worsened, they have no choice but let Yen Kee undergo bone marrow transplant that would cost them more than RM200,000; which is the only hope to save this young life according to the doctors.

（大山腳訊）大馬教育文憑11A優異生楊顏琦，因患上血癌而被迫放棄到捷克就讀醫學系。她在接受治療1年的化療後情況有好轉，原以為可以當醫生圓夢，詎料血癌再度復發，她目前急需20萬令吉進行骨髓移植手術。

楊顏琦（19歲）於去年5月證實患上血癌，在今年康復的她，萬萬沒想到自己在重獲健康短短兩週後，再度被癌魔纏上。

楊顏琦在家中排行第三，有一對兄姐及一個妹妹。父親楊亞華（62歲）雖然是一名建築承包商，為了女兒的病，他在過去一年半幾乎處於停工狀態。

楊顏琦先前在檳城醫院共花了約7至8萬令吉醫藥費，加上生活費及兄弟姐妹的求學費用，楊家已差不多耗盡儲蓄。

她病發後，醫生表示化療已無法壓制癌細胞，必須盡快進行骨髓移植手術。由於馬來西亞、新加坡及台灣都找不到適合她的骨髓，醫生只能往美國尋找，是本地比較罕見的例子。雖然已經找到骨髓，運輸費及骨髓費價格不菲，大約需要9萬美金（約31萬3200令吉），骨髓一旦抵馬，她即在安邦醫院進行手術。

這次的醫藥費估計需要20萬左右，對楊家來說是個重擔。他們希望社會熱心人士慷慨解囊，助楊顏琦渡過難關。

出國讀醫夢碎

楊顏琦原本獲得公共服務局獎學金資助，到捷克就讀醫學系，卻因為患癌而打碎了出國夢。她如今在日新國中就讀中六，所獲得的獎學金則獲準延遲一年，但日後只可以在馬來西亞繼續醫學課程。

開朗的楊顏琦表示，她在患病初期非常難過，一度十分執著，終日以淚洗臉。在家人及朋友的鼓勵下，她漸漸學會以平常心看待，並感恩現在擁有的一切。

她指出，在患病期間目睹許多血癌病人離世，令她感慨萬分。她語帶哽咽地說，希望本身康復後可以繼續深造當醫生，將來幫助那些和她一樣遭遇的人。

Selangor gets its first Malay DAP branch

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 — Ibrahim Salleh, a school security guard, proudly displayed his new red DAP membership card which he obtained last week.

He is among 50 Malays from Kampung Lembah Kinrara in Selangor to join the Chinese-based opposition party, forming the state's first Malay-led branch.

“I have no problem with DAP being led by Chinese. I believe this can bring change to the Malay community,” he told The Straits Times.

There are already four Malay DAP branches in Perak and membership has risen to about 200 after last year's polls.

Kinrara state assemblywoman Teresa Kok is determined to set up at least three more Malay branches by the end of the year.

Ibrahim, a father of five, believes the DAP will help the Malays to progress, as the democratic party strives for equal opportunity for all.

He pointed out that although Barisan Nasional talked about protecting the Malays and giving them special rights, it was only those in Umno who benefited in the end.

To him, the DAP is a multi-racial party that respects the rights and religions of other races.

“I believe in DAP now. People used to tell Malays that if DAP takes over, we cannot even have azan (call for prayers) but that is not true,” he said.

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is pleased with the development, said: “This shows that DAP has been accepted by the Malays, just like the Chinese and the Indians who accepted PAS and Parti Keadilan Rakyat.” He believes that DAP's recruitment of Malay members will strengthen his Pakatan Rakyat alliance.

The DAP's success in drawing Malays is significant for the party, which is generally seen by Malays as stridently championing Chinese interests such as Chinese schools, and fighting for issues like the right to sell alcohol and pork in public places.

The DAP's motto, Malaysian Malaysia, and its socialist roots have also turned off many Malays who see it as a sidelining of the Malay agenda, and promoting a secular culture.

But the party broke through a psychological barrier when Malays voted for it in droves in last year's general election after they were disillusioned with Umno.

Political analyst Agus Yusoff of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia said: “Malays used to stay away from DAP but they have changed because it is a different political scenario now.”

The party also received a boost when the well-respected former Transparency International Malaysia president Tunku Abdul Aziz submitted his membership form last year and is now a party vice-president.

For a long time, the only well-known Malay name in DAP was MP Ahmad Nor, who was its vice-president until his death in 2003.

Umno leaders had criticised the new Malay grassroots leaders of DAP as “politically lost” and “ungrateful”.

Umno information chief Ahmad Maslan told Berita Harian that the DAP wanted to attract Malays only to advance its narrow political agenda that will eventually be detrimental to the Malays.

“We ask the Malays not to be taken in by the DAP's tricks; it's just to give the DAP a positive image,” he said.

But Haron Wahab, 56, who helped to set up the Kampung Lembah Kinrara branch, disagreed.

“My friends and I are not lost or ungrateful. We want to support DAP because Kok has been helpful to us,” he said. — The Straits Times

The royal family of Negeri Sembilan launched a head-to-head collision with the Johor royal household, where one of the senior member of the latter is accused of physically attacking the grandson of the late Tuanku Jaafar at a nightclub.

The 'senior member' of the Johor royal family is Tengku Ismail, who is alledged of assulting Tengku Nadzimuddin using his handgun.

Tracing back the history of the 'hot-tempered' and 'controversial' Sultan Iskandar al-Marhum Sultan Ismail, its not hard to believe the accusations made by the royal family of Negeri Sembilan. Who says bad genes can't be passed down from one generation to the next?

Royal tiff over assault to be uncovered

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 — The lid is going to be blown away today on a major tussle between the two royal households of Negri Sembilan and Johor.

Tunku Dara Naquiah Tuanku Jaafar, the eldest daughter of the late Tuanku Jaafar of Negri Sembilan, has called a press conference today to provide details about the alleged assault last year of her son by a senior member of the Johor royal household.

Together with her lawyer, she is expected to pose questions about why the authorities have not charged anyone yet over the alleged assault.

It had been reported in Singapore’s Straits Times newspaper last year that her son, Tunku Nadzimuddin, and his friends had been thrashed by a grandson of the Johor Sultan and his bodyguards at a hotel here.

It is understood that Tunku Dara Naquiah and her family will say today what legal action they plan to take to settle the dispute.

A police report had been filed after the alleged assault, but no action has been taken so far.

The scuffle allegedly took place at a hotel here and Tunku Nadzimuddin suffered a fractured nose and was left unconscious from the beating.

The alleged beating took place following an altercation between groups from the two royal households at a popular nightclub in the city.

There has been little publicity in the local newspapers over the incident.

Today’s press conference could reignite debate about the indiscretions of royalty here.

In the 1990s former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad managed to push through amendments to the Constitution which removed the immunity of royalty from prosecution.

Under the Constitution, the country's nine Sultans can be tried only by a special court.

Other members of royal households are not immune from prosecution and can be charged for criminal offences in the ordinary courts.

Najib seems to reap a lot of positive comments from the foreigners who see only the physical display of Najib's promises.

I found one comment on The Malaysian Insider, written by Anak Angkat, talking about why is Najib a two face liar who pays too much effort and attention on making his own publicity than to really walk the talk.

Looks like Najib has been able to pull the wool over the eyes of many foreigners.
What he says is different from what he does.

He says 1 malaysia, his press (Utusan especially) shouts out loud on racial issues.

He says 1 malaysia and the cow head appears.

He say 1Malaysia and his Deputy brings up further racial comments.

He screams 1Malaysia and his cousin the Keris bearer says, Cow headed cowboys have done no wrong.

He hollers 1 Malaysia and the Cow boys say there will be bloodshed if temple is built in the site selected by the Selangor Govt..

With his now husky voice he shouts 1 Malaysia, and non Muslims still find difficulty in getting permits for building their places of worship.

He says (in late 2008) Malaysia will not be affected by economic downturn , now EPF has to loan money to Govt to cover some big hole - the Rakyat don't even know anything about.

Obviously the foreigners and foreign press have learnt very little about Malaysia Boleh 101 or 1 malaysia 101. - Go back to school

DO alleges BN men abused state allocations

SHAH ALAM, Sept 8 — A district officer today revealed that Barisan National (BN) assemblymen under his jurisdiction had misused their state allocations ahead of the March 8 general elections last year.

Gombak District Officer Huzaini Samsi, who testified before the special select committee for competency, accountability and transparency (Selcat), also admitted that there was even a ‘possibility that the annual allocations were used for campaigning”.

He admitted it was morally wrong and extraordinary for the state lawmakers and exco members to spend their entire annual allocations in just two months.

BN state lawmakers received RM500,00 while state executive councillors received an additional RM100,000.

He said normal monthly expenditure only amounts to between RM20,000 and RM50,000 but during the general elections the lawmakers maximise their expenditure.’

“They try and spend as much as possible before the general elections.”

Huzaini, who became the Gombak District Officer in 2007, gave a candid account of how there was virtually no accountability and safeguards on how previous BN assemblyman spent their annual allocations.

He was the second witness to testify at the first of the public inquiry into how state allocations are spent by state law makers by the previous and current administrations.

Huzaini, who is in charged of overseeing allocations to six constituencies, said it was his personal opinion that lawmakers were entitled to the allocations while his office merely tried its best to ensure applications are approved with minimum delay.

He said assemblymen would call his office to expedite applications for funds but he initially denied there was any direct pressure to approve.

"We usually just approve all applications because we want to avoid confrontation," he said, adding that they were frequently caught in a difficult position.

“We are wrong if we approved and wrong if we didn’t.”

Huzaini said normal applications for funds are approved within two weeks but state lawmakers would often asked for applications to be processed and funds to be issued earlier.

However he was stumped when shown the spending patterns of previous BN assemblymen whose constituency are under his jurisdiction.

The previous Batu Caves lawmaker for instance made 90 applications amounting to almost RM500,000 on Feb 12 last year and all the funds were paid out within 9 days.

“Fantastic, I did not know my staff could work so hard,” said Huzaini.

He also could not explain how RM70,000 in cash was paid out to one individual.”

Another example shown was that of the Paya Jaras state constituency, where 165 applications amounting to RM504,500 were made between Jan 17 and Feb 1, 2008.

The entire amount was paid to a single individual.

Huzaini also confirmed that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had recently raided the Gombak land office but said he did not know if they were checking only on the files of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) lawmakers or the previous BN assemblymen

Earlier Petaling District Officer Datuk Zulkepli Ahmad was at a loss to explain how approval for state allocations for BN lawmakers was given even after the state assembly was dissolved and even after the new PR state government was sworn-in.

Both Huzaini and Zulkepli requested for time to check their records. Huzaini is scheduled to return on Friday while Zulkepli requested two weeks.

Meanwhile Selcat chairman Teng Chang Khim said all nine District Officers will be called along with other necessary witnesses during the inquiry which will continue until Sept 14.

He said any current and previous state lawmakers who wish to clarify or dispute the testimony of the officers can come forward and testify during the public inquiry.

“They can contact the secretariat of the state legislative assembly and arrangements will be made for them.”

Meeting With UMNO Samsengs

You can anticipate what would happen next, if you've invited some fake Section 23 "residents" for a supposedly peaceful and problem-solving talk.

Infiltrated by a group of uncivilized UMNO gangsters today, the dialogue organized by Selangor state government at the town hall ended being constantly interrupted with derogatory remarks against the few Selangor state VIPs.

The UMNO goons protested on the chair, yelling and jeering throughout the whole proceeding, and even insulted an indian who attended the meeting, according to The Malaysian Insider:

"The situation deteriorated further when protesters insulted an Indian attendee, telling him Indians could easily stand listening to the “azan” (Muslim call to prayers) five times daily."

Well, I seriously do not know what's on the mind of these UMNO folks, that they shamelessly shown their intolerence and inurbane attitudes towards the religions and beliefs of other Malaysian citizens.

So, what are you expecting from a meeting with UMNO Samsengs?
A complete waste of time and energy I shall say.

Chaotic town hall meet produces no solution

SHAH ALAM, Sept 5 — The town hall meeting called today by Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to hold dialogue over the recent cow-head protest controversy descended into chaos, with around 300 residents from Section 23 jeering and mocking the meeting.

Proceedings barely got off the ground before the protesters started shouting and booing at Khalid, along with Khalid Samad (MP for Shah Alam), and Shah Alam mayor Mazalan Md Noor.

Despite calls for calm, the ruckus continued with the upset residents yelling “Penipu!” (liar!) and “Bodoh!” (stupid!) each time Khalid attempted to address them.

Tempers frayed at one point, with rowdy protesters standing on their chairs while shouting.

One Indian Section 23 resident confronted a cow-head protester, prompting MBSA enforcement officers to step in to defuse the situation.

Tensions appeared to ease after that, but the protesters started to get worked up again when Batu Tiga state assemblyman Rodziah Ismail took to the podium. The residents accused her of ignoring their views when planning the relocation of the temple, pelting her with shouts of “Tipu!”

Khalid Ibrahim has said the state government will now reconsider the location of the temple, and that the state development board (PKNS) would need to come up with an amicable solution. This did not placate the irate residents any.

The situation deteriorated further when protesters insulted an Indian attendee, telling him Indians could easily stand listening to the “azan” (Muslim call to prayers) five times daily. This triggered another round of altercations even as the mentri besar plead for calm.

He asked all parties to halt arguing over the issue, saying he would seek out their views personally before making a final decision on the matter.

Proceedings kept being halted by shouting protesters, who made up one-third of the attendees. Around 40 Indian residents from Section 23, who are in favour of the temple relocating there, were also at the meeting.

With no clear outcome possible from the emotionally-charged meet, aides led the mentri besar away. The meeting ended with the situation exactly as it was, with no resolution in sight.

Last Friday, a group of 50 protesters from the Section 23 area in Shah Alam held a demonstration in front of the state secretariat building to protest the planned relocation of the 150-year-old Sri Mahamariamman Temple to Section 23 from Section 19. They brandished a severed head of a cow at the protest.

The 150-year-old temple was built on a plantation which over the years was developed into housing estates by the Selangor Development Corporation (PKNS). No provisions were made to relocate the temple, which is now in the middle of a Muslim majority area.

The Cow Head UMNO

Hishamuddin was the very first high-ranking UMNO member that stood out to speak for the racist demonstrators who paraded with a cow-head in Shah Alam over a Hindu temple built there.

The son of our former PM, Mukhriz, also defended the cow head goons.

And just yesterday we have Khir Toyo justifying the actions of the cow head protesters as "they meant no offense" to the Hindus.

Very contrary to UMNO's actions towards this issue, from the PM to the cowhead protesters themselves, none of them would admit that this racist demonstration was planned and organized by UMNO.

However, everybody knows that these immatured and provocative actions belong to UMNO.
Someone did an analysis on the video captured during the cow head event, and effortlessly recognised a few UMNO goons from that demonstrations who claimed that they were the "NGO representatives", and some even said that they are "PAS members who voted for Khalid and Pakatan Rakyat".

How silly. The revelation on the culprit of this whole fracas was made and published on Zainulfaqal's blog.

SHAH ALAM, 2 Sept. – Sejak demontrasi mengarak kepala lembu berdarah terjadi enam hari lalu, khalayak rata-ratanya terus mempersoal tindakan Umno yang ekstrem itu.

Umno bukan sahaja didakwa cuba menjatuhkan kerajan Pakatan Rakyat di Selangor melalui isu cadangan pembinaan kuil di Seksyen 23, di sini; malah parti itu cuba mencipta pergelutan dengan penganut agama Hindu di Selangor melalui aksi ekstrem pihak terbabit.

Apa yang berlaku sudah tentu menuntut kepemimpinan Umno membetulkan kesangsian rakyat terhadap aksi ekstrem pihak terbabit.

Di sebalik klip youtube yang merakamkan insiden tersebut, sebenarnya adalah jawapan yang paling sahih untuk mengetahui siapakah dalang di sebalik aksi ektrem itu.

Analisis emperikel bersama dua Exco Pemuda PAS Selangor Nadzham Hj. Ahmad Nazir (berkolar kuning) dan Mohd Khairul Afandi Ibrahim (berbaju hitam berlogo PAS) semalam umumnya menunjukkan bahawa Umno lah dalang sebenar insiden 28 Ogos lalu.

Berdasarkan klip youtube tersebut, Nadzham mendakwa bahawa dalang sebenar perhimpunan terbabit adalah Pengerusi Penaja Umno Cawangan Seksyen 23, Hj. Azmir Md. Zain, di sini.

Jelasnya, Azmir merupakan adik kandung kepada bekas Adun Kota Anggerik Dato’ Nawawi Md. Zain (dalam Parlimen Shah Alam); yang mewakili Umno dalam pilihanraya umum ke-12 lalu.

“Kalau dah ada Ketua Penaja Umno (cawangan) Seksyen 23 menjadi kepala demontrasi itu, siapa lagi dalangnya,” katanya.

“Kalau orang PAS, kita (ahli-ahlinya) tidak akan demontrasi isu perkauman, (sebaliknya) kita akan demontrasi isu hak asasi dan Islam. Sudah lama kita (pemimpin PAS) ditangkap, kene gas pemedih mata, dibelasah FRU (atau) dikenakan Akta Hasutan serta iSA (Akta Keselamatan Dalam Negeri).”

Jelasnya lagi, Azmir turut dikenali khalayak tempatan sebagai salah seorang samseng yang menguasai kawasan panas, Up-Town Shah Alam.

Dia (Azmir) salah seorang yang kuasai Up-Town Shah Alam. Itu sebab walaupun penduduk setempat bantah (dan) pungut tandatangan bantahan disebabkan (bunyi) bising-bising, sampai sekarang tak berjaya (dipindahkan); sebab Dato’ Nawawi (abang kandung Azmir) di belakangnya…antara gangsternya (adalah) Achai, juga pemuda Umno Shah Alam.”

Nadzham yang pernah dikenali sebagai ‘otai’ Pemuda Umno Shah Alam pada era Reformasi 1998, sebelum menyertai PAS turut mendedahkan bahawa Gangster bernama Achai juga merupakan orang penting kepada pemimpin pemuda Umno tempatan, Dato’ Nawawi Md. Zain.

“Achai ini bukan (saja) kawan dia (Azmir), tapi adik pada Zack (iaitu) Setiausaha Kerja kepada Dato’ Hj. Nawawi Md Zain. Dia (Achai) orang penting pemuda Umno.”

Tambah Nadzham lagi, antara demontran yang cuba menyamar sebagai pemuda PAS dalam demontrasi ekstrem tersebut adalah bekas Bendahari Pemuda Umno Shah Alam sendiri, selepas meneliti klip youtube Malaysiakini.

Menurut Khairul Afandi pula, demontrasi melampau tersebut turut disertai oleh Ketua Pemuda Umno Selayang, Sohaimi Shahadan.

Sumber dalamam Umno ketika dihubungi kemudian bukan sahaja mengesahkan keahlian Umno Sohaimi, malah menjelaskan bahawa Sohaimi bukanlah penduduk tempatan Seksyen 23, di sini. Sebaliknya, beliau bermastautin di Batu 19, Kuang, Rawang.

Sumber tersebut juga mendedahkan bahawa terdapat kes kuil bersebelahan masjid di Sungai Buluh (berdekatan Kuang) yang sampai ke pengetahuannya beberapa tahun lalu (iaitu sewaktu Umno BN memerintah Selangor), tetapi beliau mengambil sikap hipokrasi serta sambil lewa.

Sumber tersebut juga mendakwa Sohaimi merupakan antara individu yang terbanyak mengaut tender projek di bawah Kementerian Pertanian, Industri dan Asas Tani melalui Menterinya Datuk Noh Omar yang juga Timbalan Pengerusi Perhubungan Umno Selangor, sejak kerajaan Selangor jatuh di bawah Pakatan Rakyat.

Bersandarkan klip youtube yang lain : “Bantahan Dari Penduduk Seksyen 23Terhadap Kuil Yang Akan Dibangunkan Di Seksyen 23 Shah Alam“, Nadzham dan Khairul turut mendedahkan dua pemimpin Umno luar yang datang beraksi ekstrem di Seksyen 23, di sini 16 Ogos lalu.

Kedua-dua pemimpin Pemuda PAS tersebut juga turut mempersoal tindak-tanduk Polis ‘berdiam diri’, sewaktu demontrasi terbabit berlangsung.

“Ketua Polis Daerah Shah Alam (ASP Noor Azam Jamaludin) kata perhimpunan itu tidak ada permit. Kenapa begitu mudah Polis memberi laluan kepada demontrasi tersebut, mengawal trafik; sudah tentu ada (pemimpin) Umno sendiri di sebalik demontrasi itu.”

“Umno memainkan peranan terhadap demontrasi kepala lembu ‘berdarah’ tersebut. Sebab itu, beberapa pemimpin Umno terlibat.

Dalam pada itu, Khairul juga mendakwa penduduk tempatan tidak mengenali Timbalan Pengerusi Badan Bertindak Penduduk Seksyen 23 di sini; sehinggalah media arus perdana membuat liputan luar biasa ke atasnya.

Sambil menyifatkan Ibrahim Sabri berdusta kepada khalayak, Khairul dan Nadzham juga mendakwa lelaki misteri itu cuba mencari helah apabila banyak pihak mempertikai tindak tanduk mengarak/menendang kepala lembu lembu ‘berdarah’ itu.

“Sepatutnya dia (Ibrahim Sabri) sebagai orang penganjur menasihati, dia sepatutnya menasihati orang yang datang berdemonstrasi bersama. Sepatutnya dia menasihati supaya kepala lembu ‘berdarah’ itu tidak disertai bersama perarakan itu.”

Ibrahim turut didakwa cuba menjernihkan tanggapan tidak baik khalayak terhadap Umno Selangor.

Memetik laporan Utusan Malaysia semalam, Ibrahim menegaskan, “Sebenarnya kita sendiri tidak menyangka perhimpunan yang diadakan itu di hadapan bangunan SUK selepas solat Jumaat itu ada orang yang membawa kepala lembu.”

Jelasnya lagi, cadangan mengarak kepala lembu ‘berdarah’ itu tidak pernah dibincangkan di peringkat Jawatankuasa Pendududuk Seksyen 23.

Pun begitu, jika dilihat sendiri rakaman Youtube Malaysia kini, membayangkan Ibrahim masih bersifat ekstrem, kalau tidak pun terlibat mengarak kepala lembu yang segar berdarah itu.

Tegasnya, “Kami (mewakili) penduduk Syeksyen 23 (Shah Alam) sekali lagi menyatakan tidak akan berganjak walaupun seinci,walau nyawa habis (terkorban), walau darah mengalir; kami tetap pertahankan Seksyen 23 (Shah Alam) daripada dibina kuil,” katanya.

Agendadaily melaporkan, Timbalan Pengerusi Badan Perhubungan Umno Selangor Datuk Noh Omar semalam berkata, “Jangan tuding jari pada pihak lain (Umno)… saya sendiri lawat tapak di Seksyen 23 pada 18 Ogos lalu untuk terima memorandum bantahan yang hendak diserah kepada Perdana Menteri.”

Bagaimanapun, Noh dalam kenyataannya 18 Ogos lalu mahu menyertai bantahan penduduk dengan mendapatkan injunksi Mahkamah atas cadangan kerajaan negeri membina kuil tersebut.

Beliau mendakwa keputusan itu sebagai mainan politik Pakatan Rakyat negeri, demi mengetepikan bantahan penduduk setempat Jumaat lalu.

Semalam, Naib Presiden PAS Dato’ Mahfuz Omar pada satu kenyataan akhbar di Pejabat Agong PAS berkata, “Saya lihat bahawa isu ini ada kepentingan politik kepada Umno Barisan Nasional…mengadu domba hubungan antara kaum yang harmoni dalam negara kita untuk mencetuskan suatu keadaan tegang bagi survival politik mereka…(iaitu) percubaan mengembalikan sokongan orang Melayu kepada Umno.”

Ujar Ahli Parlimen Pokok Sena itu lagi, “Mereka mengatakan orang-orang Islam dalam Pakatan (Rakyat) menjadi kuda tunggangan; ungkapan-ungkapan yang menunjukkan bahawa mereka meniupkan sentimen perkauaman dan keagamaan.”

Ahli Parlimen Shah Alam Khalid Samad yang ditemuramah lewat malam tadi, mempertikai tindakan Menteri Dalam Negeri Dato’ Seri Hishammudin Tun Hussien yang menyanjungi para pemuda ekstrem terbabit.

“Saya diberitahu bahawa Hishamuddin akan turun sendiri ke sini (Seksyen 23) untuk bertemu dengan samseng-samseng terbabit. Itu suatu penghormatan (Hishamuddin) sedangkan samseng-samseng itu jelas membelakangkan undang-undang dalam isu ini.”

“Saya tahu bahawa yang bercakap itu (demontrasi kepala lembu berdarah) bukan mewakili penduduk setempat (Seksyen 23). Saya sedih melihat bagaimana samseng-samseng itu boleh bertindak sesuka hati mereka…sesuatu tindakan terdesak oleh pihak Umno untuk membela, membela* dan melindungi mereka (ekstremis).”

“Orang-orang sebegini sepatutnya sudah lama dikenakan tindakan undang-undang (kerana) mereka sudah merosakkan harta benda awam, mengancam orang ramai dengan kata-kata hasutan. Mereka dikebalkan sehingga mengugut penduduk yang mempersoal tindakan mereka.”

Beliau turut mengulangi rumus politiknya, bahawa insiden tersebut angkara Umno demi menjatuhkan kerajaan Pakatan Rakyat di Selangor.

Tanpa menyebut nama-nama mangsa, Khalid juga menjelaskan bahawa beberapa saksi kejadian yang tampil membuat kenyataan sudah diugut serta diarahkan meninggalkan kediaman mereka, di sini.

Khalid juga menjelaskan bahawa beliau masih menunggu maklum balas pihak Polis sejak Sabtu lepas.

Wartawan Harakahdaily, Dzulfikar Mashoor yang turut turun ke Seksyen 23 petang semalam menjelaskan bahawa pihak Pasukan Gerakan Am (PGA) masih berkubu di Dewan Serbaguna MBSA di sini.

Di antara responden harakahdaily 30 Ogos lalu, dua daripadanya menjelaskan bahawa diri serta keluarga mereka dikecam, dipulau serta diancam oleh suatu pihak yang tidak dikenali.

Ditanya sama ada responden terbabit ada membuat laporan Polis, kedua-duanya memberikan alasan takut terus diancam pihak terbabit.

Dalam pada itu, respon Rohaya Samad, suri rumah membuat penjelasan semula berhubung kenyataannya 30 Ogos lalu.

“Bukan maksud akak (kononnya) Hj. Mahyuddin (Pengerusi Persatuan Penduduk) membawa kepala lembu itu. Bukan akak yang kata. Akak bukan pemecah belah masyarakat seperti didakwa…” katanya.

Beliau juga menafikan bahawa beliau menerima sms kononnya penganut Hindu sudah membuat 98 aduan Polis berhubung insiden tersebut.

“Bukan 98 (aduan) yang akak kata. Akak kata 48 (aduan). Akhbar hari ini laporan 52 aduan,” ujarnya lagi.

Ditanya sama ada segala penjelasan tersebut disebabkan ugutan pihak tertentu, beliau mengatakan ‘tidak’.

Salah seorang saksi tuduh yang juga pemimpin tempatan, Cikgu Zainuddin terus dihubungi sehingga kini untuk mendapatkan sisi pandang yang lain, tetapi masih gagal.

Suatu sumber memberitahu bahawa beliau sedang membantu siasatan oleh pihak Polis.

Setakat ini, tidak ada mana-mana individu dilaporkan telah ditangkap di bawah Akta Hasutan dan iSA.

Segala yang berlaku, kerajaan Pakatan Rakyat Selangor cuba menjadikan pertemuan bersama penduduk Seksyen 23 Sabtu ini sebagai jalan keluar, sedangkan Umno BN terus dibelit pelbagai dakwaan ekstrem, samseng, mengamalkan perkauman sempit sehingga sekarang. -END

In the previous posting on the cow head racist protest against a Hindu temple, I mentioned that these UMNO haters will be protected by law. Needless to say, this is just another UMNO-hate-campaign which is aiming at creating racial tension among Malaysians; and as predicted, they will be able to get away with it, with the backing from UMNO ministers.

Hishamuddin defended the cow head protestors today, and even reasoned out why they are innocent. He wondefully twisted the truth around by saying that “the publicity they received was negative because it was linked with racial and religious sentiments.”

Well, does that really mean that they did not hurt the Hindus and other Malaysians?

There is a reason why UMNO is being branded as a racist party, simply because they're above the law and is continuingly planting the seeds of hatred among the rakyats. What we the ordinary Malaysians need is a sound mind and a pair of eyes to distinguish between the right and wrong.

These incidents, including what has happened in Perak this morning should not be an obstacle to strengthen national unity among the rakyats and at the same time, we should stick together as Malaysians, regardless of race and religion to reject racism and UMNO.

We can achieve much more as Malaysians without the existence of UMNO and their cronies in Barisan Nasional.

Hisham defends cow-head protestors

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 2 – The Home Minister today defended and justified last Friday's cow-head demonstration after meeting with Malay-Muslim representatives of Shah Alam's Section 23 at his office here today.

Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein pointed out that the residents felt victimized and had no intention to stir racial emotion.

“They are not getting off scot-free. They felt victimised and feel that there is another valid explanation on their part. There was no intention on their part to cause racial divide. They, the organisers, who are sitting left and right of me, didn’t even know that somebody was going to bring the head of the cow during that demonstration.” he said.

He added that the residents only wanted their voices to be heard but it was unfortunate that “the publicity they received was negative because it was linked with racial and religious sentiments.”

A group, claiming to be Muslim residents of Section 23 in Shah Alam, the new site of a Hindu temple, held a demonstration outside the Selangor state secretariat last Friday, dragging a severed cow-head, an animal sacred in Hinduism, which they stomped on and spat at under the gaze of the riot police.

The act was carried out by a group of 50 protestors who oppose the relocation of the Sri Mahamariamman Temple to Section 23 from Section 19, claiming the area is mainly occupied by Malay-Muslims.

Hishammuddin told reporters that the police allowed the demonstrators to proceed because the numbers of protestors were small.

“They said that they were very conscious and all that they wanted to do was to voice their unhappiness about the willingness of the state government to listen to their requests. I was told that even the Hindus there are not so passionate that it is built there (section 23),” he said.

Hishammuddin refuted claims that the protest was organised by Umno and said that the location allocated by the state government is not suitable because Section 23 is predominantly Malay.

However, a check last week showed the neighbourhood was multi-racial, with Indians making up more than a quarter of those who live there.

“If I wanted to use the issue to create chaos in Selangor, I can but we didn’t take such actions,” Hishammuddin said.

He tried to play down the cow-head incident by pointing out that there were previous incidents where a pig-head was used.

“I have it in my records to show there were cases where a pig-head was used by irresponsible parties including leaving the head in front of an Umno building covered by an Umno flag,” he said, but offered no details of such an act.

The Umno vice-president warned irresponsible parties not to provoke racial sentiments because it goes against the concept of 1 Malaysia.

Hishammuddin told reporters that the residents had met with Hindu Sangam two days ago and both parties will be releasing a media statement tomorrow.

“If it can be resolved quickly and can be done with both sides understanding each other ... why would we want to penalise anybody?” he said, suggesting he was not in favour of legal action to be taken against any of the protestors.

Protesters threaten bloodshed over Hindu temple

SHAH ALAM, Aug 28 — A group of Malay-Muslim protesters claiming to be residents of Section 23 have threatened bloodshed unless the state government stopped the construction of a Hindu Temple.

Amid chants of "Allahuakbar," the group also left the severed head of a cow at the entrance of the State Secretariat here as a warning to Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.

The "residents" said that the construction of a Hindu temple in a 90 per cent Malay- Muslim neighbourhood was insensitive because activities there would disrupt their lives.

They claimed that the "noise" from the temple would disturb their own praying, and that they would not be able to function properly as Muslims.

The group of 50 over protestors marched shortly after Friday prayers from the Shah Alam State mosque to the State Secretariat.

“I challenge YB Khalid, YB Rodziah and Xavier Jeyakumar to go on with the temple construction. I guarantee bloodshed and racial tension will happen if this goes on, and the state will be held responsible,” shouted Ibrahim Haji Sabri amid strong chants of “Allahu Akbar!”

Ibrahim identified himself as the Deputy Chairman of the Resident’s Committee against the building of the temple in S23 here, which is perceived by some as being a Muslim majority area.

He told the press that the state should move the temple to Section 22 as ‘originally planned’, and also labelled Khalid a “traitor to the Malay race and Islam”.

It is understood that the protest is an immediate reaction towards the Selangor MB’s visit to the Hindu temple site yesterday, an act seen by the "residents" as disrespectful to the Muslims of the community.

Mohd. Zurit Bin Ramli, who claims to be the secretary of the "Coalition of Malaysian NGOs" echoed Ibrahim’s stand on the matter, saying that it was irresponsible on the part of the state government to approve the construction as there was apparently a “90 per cent” majority Muslim population in Section 23.

“With a temple on our residential area, we cannot function properly as Muslims. The temple will disrupt our daily activities like prayers in the Surau. We cannot concentrate with the sounds coming from the temple,” stated Zurit.

When asked whether members of the protest were affiliated with any organisations or movements, Ibrahim claimed that the people present today were members of PAS, PKR as well as Umno who are “united in the name of Islam and the Malay spirit.”

The state government was also accused of lying to the people of Selangor.

The Chairman of the Residents Committee, Mahyuddin Manaf excitedly proclaimed that the committee would uncover “the lies” and find proof of the state’s misconduct.

“Khalid Ibrahim wears a mask of a Muslim, but in truth he is a liberal. PAS stands to lose out as a result. I voted for PAS as well as Khalid in the past elections,” Mahyuddin claimed. (eleh... tu kan taktik camne orang UMNO cakap bila dah kalah.. )

The issue first cropped up when the Selangor government proposed that the Sri Mariamman temple be relocated from Section 19 to Section 23.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 – The split in the MCA took a turn for the worse tonight with the presidential council deciding to sack deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, on the recommendation of the party’s disciplinary committee.

The expulsion of Dr Chua is ostensibly his punishment for tarnishing the party’s image over the disclosure in late 2007 of a secret recording showing him engaging in sex acts with his mistress.

He had resigned as a minister and from all party posts last year after admitting to being the man in the footage, but won in the party elections last October as deputy president of MCA.

But Dr Chua and party president Ong have been barely on speaking terms.

"This evening after much deliberation the presidential council made a decision to accept the disciplinary's recommendation to expel Chua from the party with immediate effect," Ong told reporters tonight, while reading from a prepared text.

He said he would explain the decision to sack Dr Chua to Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak. Ong also said that Dr Chua had 14 days to appeal the decision to the party's central committee.

The Malaysian Insider understands Najib was shocked at the decision, as are other Umno and BN leaders, as many of them feel that an MCA on a path of destruction is the last thing the ruling coalition needs.

Ong has denied being behind the decision to dredge up his deputy’s sex scandal even though the party’s disciplinary committee had decided early this month to go ahead with a hearing despite the fact that the complainant had withdrawn the allegation.

The party’s decision today will be seen as a move by Ong to shore up his own position in the party, but brings him on a collision course with MCA’s senior partner in the Barisan Nasional (BN), Umno.

"Maybe by sacking me, Ong believes he can sleep better and the party will be more stable," said Dr Chua.

He said he would not join the opposition and denied being behind a move to call an EGM, although he would endorse it to save the party.

Asked if the disciplinary board gave any grounds for recommending a sacking, he replied: "I tarnished the party image. That is a severe crime. I am lucky they did not sentence me to death."

Dr Chua had only recently been appointed by Najib as BN’s coordinator in Pakatan Rakyat-held states.

Ong has also been in a beleaguered position in recent weeks because of his ongoing tiff with BN backbenchers’ chairman Datuk Tiong King Sing over the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal.

Tiong, the CEO of PKFZ turnkey contractor Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd (KDSB), has accused Ong of taking a RM10 million donation and for taking free flights on the company’s private jets.

Ong has, in turn, filed a RM500 million lawsuit against Tiong, in an escalation of the open quarrel which has badly embarrassed BN.

Umno leaders have urged Ong to settle the dispute with Tiong, but the transport minister is now attempting to portray himself as someone who has been trying to expose wrongdoings over the PKFZ scandal.

The tough action against Dr Chua today will be seen as an attempt by Ong to shore up his own position as there are now rumblings within the MCA against him for dragging the party into the PKFZ saga.

Yesterday, six party divisions in Perak openly called for Ong to be suspended over the allegations that Tiong had donated the RM10 million.

The MCA has already clarified that it did not receive the donation while Tiong has called for Ong to open up his bank accounts for scrutiny.

More divisions, especially those from Dr Chua’s home state in Johor, are expected to join their Perak counterparts in calling for Ong’s removal.

BRIBERY, MISCONDUCT AND CORRUPTION OF A SUPERIOR OFFICER OF MACC SELANGOR

Respectfully, we would like to refer to the subject above.

We would like to inform you that we, officers of the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC), feel obliged to expose the misconduct and bribery of a senior officer of the MACC, Deputy Director (DD) MACC Selangor PKPj I Hishamuddin bin Hashim, in connection with the case of TEOH BENG HOCK and another case involving the bungalow of DATO' SERI DR MOHAMAD KHIR BIN TOYO in Section 7, Shah Alam, Selangor.

2. For YBhg Tan Sri/Dato/Tuan/Puan's information, DD was directly involved in the investigations on the fraud case of the Selangor State Government's funds for YB Ean's (ADUN Seri Kembangan) allocation. His involvement was not just on official orders, but he has also given instructions to his subordinates to find, with any means possible, any evidence of wrongdoing by the Selangor State Goverment. He acted in this fashion because he has made a conspiracy with Khir Toyo to topple the government of Selangor. These (gelojoh) actions directly resulted in the death of Teoh Beng Hock. There arise a few suspicious questions that we, officers of the MACC Malaysia, ask on how Teoh Beng Hock could have died. We suspect the DD's involvement in the death of Teoh Beng Hock based on the following:

i) DD had ordered all MACC officers involved in the operation that he not be directly involved in the case. In fact, he was the one who gave all the orders in this operation and other operations in MACC Selangor. In fact, he was afraid to be involved directly because this could expose his conspiracy with Khir Toyo.

ii) The chemical investigators have discovered fingerprints and male DNA on the front side of both sides of Teoh Beng Hock's belt. Based on our, the officers of MACC Malaysia, knowledge, the DD has an individual style of investigative techniques which include interrogating a suspect by holding the front of his belt, lifting him a few times while shaking him.

iii) The process of collecting DNA on MACC Selangor officers was performed in 2 sessions. In the first session of collecting DNA, the DD made every effort to evade giving his DNA sample. The DD was said to have given his DNA sample in the second session, but suspicions arise because the DD gave his DNA sample in the privacy of his own office while all other MACC offiers including the MACC Director have given their DNA samples in a meeting room in the presence of many other individuals. Why did the DD give his DNA sample in a secretive fashion? Was the DNA provided really his DNA? We, the officers of the MACC Malaysia, feel puzzled that there was no one else in the presence of the DD when he allegedly gave his DNA sample? We recommend that the DNA Test on the DD must be done again, witnessed by a group of people who can be trusted.

iv) We have been informed that the DD had ordered his subordinates to erase/clean the fingerprints on the window that Teoh was believed to have fallen from. This was proven when the police could not find any signs of fingerprints, new or old, on the window. The question is, why did the DD order that this be done?

v) We suspect, based on information we have obtained, that the DD did not touch his punch-card when he left the office on the 16th of July 2009, at 6:10 am. This is important because it can prove that the DD was the last person to see Teoh. The question is, why did he not touch his punch-card when he is a person who always touches his punch-card. For the record, he is very diligent with his punch-card.

3. For YBhg Tan Sir/Dato/Tuan/Puan's information, the DD in question is very influential in the enforcement of investigation operations around Selangor and the rest of Malaysia. In MACC Selangor, he is the most important person who decides whether a case should be prosecuted even if the power should rest in the hands of the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP). His decision is prompted by his personal interests and those of his co-conspirators. So, it is no surprise that he led the MACC Selangor Investigative Unit for decades, at least since the Selangor state government was under the helm of the Barisan Nasional government (Khir Toyo) until now. He was promoted ahead of schedule, from Grade 41 to Grade 54, over the course of 16 years without transfer to other positions or locations other than that of the MACC Selangor. Based on the MACC, any officer who has been promoted or who has worked for more than 5 years in a state should be transferred to a different location to avoid the officer being involved in local bribery. One of the reasons he was never transferred is because he was tasked to "take care of" the position of Dato' Seri Dr Khir Toyo in Selangor. As a result, Khir Toyo also "took care of" his position in Selangor as a favour.

4. As a result of his position in MACC Selangor for these many years, he has been involved in various cases of bribery and misuse of power. Some of the incidents of bribery or misuse of power that we have investigated are as follows:

i) Closing the case of Khir Toyo connected to the approval of a road construction project, in Sekinchan running 20.5 km valued at RM 92.5 million to a contractor that was nearly blacklisted, Meram Holdings. According to the JKR's estimates, the road should have cost less than RM 50 million. The subcontractor that did the work on the project was Cabaran Wangsa, owned by Pua Kim An, the landlord of a house that had once been rented by Khir, while another company director, Ahmad Tarmizi Tajjeury is a Khir crony that was also given 100 acres of land at a profit to him of at least RM 20 million.

ii) Owning assets that exceed his emoluments such as:
a. Owning a few rental houses of which one is a two storey terrace house that was purchased at a favourable price from Pemaju Kumpulan Lebar Daun Development Sdn Bhd, as a result of the closing of the case against the Group Executive Chairman, Dato' Noor Azman @ Noor Hizam bin Mohd Nurdin. The case was investigated by the then BPR Selangor for a few years together with various other houses owned by him. To remove public and subordinate suspicions, he lived in the Government Quarters in Kg Atap, Kuala Lumpur.

b. Owning a Petronas petrol station on the left of the Federal Highway KM 8.6 - 8.7, Section 1, Federal Highway, Shah Alam, 40000 Selangor (near the Melati Roundabout, Shah Alam to Klang bound, registered under the name of his brother. The petrol station only just began operating this year (2009), part of which was built above a Chinese cemetary. He managed to get the site to build the petrol station because of his power, which was exercised in the era of Khir Toyo's government in Selangor.

c. Owning several plots of land around Shah Alam, in which one of them is believed to be beside the new SACC Mall registered under the name of a wife of a MACC Selangor driver named Abdullah b Azim, a full time homemaker in her late 30s.

iii) He has been caught in close proximity with a subordinate officer, Investigator rank, named Nor Azlina bt Mustafa besides the Shah Alam Lake early in 2009 by 2 police officers. He showed his identity card (MACC) and informed the police officers that he and the officer were in the middle of an operation and they were released. These "intimacies" between him and the Investigator were repeated and are common knowledge of many including his own wife. The only action taken by the Department was transferring the officer involved to the MACC Headquarters in Putrajaya. This was not effective because Azlina is still always with the DD in the Selangor office.

5. This letter was written to uphold justice and prevent the further abuse of power especially in the MACC and throughout Malaysia. We in the MACC are fed up to see his antics which have the blessings of the powers that be, like the saying "beraja di mata, bersultan di hati". We in the MACC are at lost in finding departments/institutions/NGOs that can champion this issue so that appropriate actions can be taken.

6. We, the officers of the MACC, are touched and thankful that YBhg Dato'/tuan/puan could expose this issue to the people and the authorities so that an organisation/NGO can take the appropriate action, or an independent investigation, can be taken and raised to the Cabinet. This is very important because it involves the integrity of a serving officer of a department that upholds the laws involving human integrity. The DD is now making every effort to press his subordinates to find any faults involving ruling PKR in the hopes that the PKR-led government will fall in Selangor and his secret will be safe. For your information, the DD is now very afraid whenever news about Dato' Seri Khir Toyo is released in the press and he would be very afraid if the case would expose his involvement.

7. We hope that any brave individuals or organizations can spread this information so that our actions can be brought to the attention of responsible and trusted authorities and that justice can be done. We are unable to do this ourselves because he has a "cable" with the powers that be.

8. Cooperation from YBhg Tan Sri/Dato'/tuan/puan is much appreciated and we hope that through your action, much more information can be brought to light involving individuals with no integrity. We hope that this will cleanse the MACC and its officers from further involvement in bribery and corruption.

What's up this time?
ISA? C4? MACC? Murders? Corruptions? Racism? Police Violence? Corrupted Judiciary sys.?

Well, of course I'm talking about our Barisan Nasional government here, but this time Rais Yatim has got a new tricky idea to "help" Malaysians to decide on what websites they intend to surf.
It's the internet filter similar to that which the Chinese communist government planned to introduce to their people.

Perhaps Rais Yatim did not know that even the Head of MACC thinks that having child pornography is "perfectly normal", our minister suddenly has this fear that our country will collapse due to illegal websites. So, he suggested that Malaysian government will assist in filtering out 'inappropriate' web sites, well of course, including bloggers.

It's no doubt another effort to prevent people's voice to be heard; especially after several violent crackdowns on peaceful demonstrations and media's attacks on opposition parties, its not hard to imagine that our government would abuse the internet filter for their own political purposes.

By keeping an eye on bloggers, censoring news materials, videos and photographs, Barisan Nasional could easily keep every Malaysian in the dark about news which they consider "sensitive" and "damaging" to the nation.

I would not be too surprised if all future Malaysians have to put on a recording device and GPS on their bodies all the time for the easy-tracking and monitoring by our sick voyeur government.

Malaysia mulls ‘Green Dam’ despite China’s failure

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 — Despite a guarantee of no censorship in Malaysia's Multimedia Super Corridor, Datuk Seri Rais Yatim's ministry is evaluating the feasibility of putting an Internet filter blocking “undesirable websites” — similar to China's aborted "Green Dam" software.

The study is to be completed by this December and the results will be handed to a shadowy unit monitoring blogs and websites although the decision on implementation will lie with the National Security Council headed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Critics say any move to filter the Internet is against the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) Bill of Guarantees apart from being largely ineffective as most Internet surfers can circumvent filters through proxy servers.

"It is a waste of time," Dhillon Andrew Kannabhiran, chief executive officer of Internet security firm Hack in the Box, told The Malaysian Insider.

But the Information, Communication and Culture Ministry has conducted a tender exercise calling for companies to put proposals to assist the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) evaluate an Internet filter.

The move comes on the back of proposals to register bloggers, most of whom are said to be anti-government, and the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition parties to have a larger Internet presence.

According to tender documents seen by The Malaysian Insider, the tenderer is:

• to evaluate the readiness and feasibility for the implementation of Internet filter at Internet gateway level, through assessments on the existing infrastructure and existing products in the market.

• to evaluate and estimate costs for the implementation.

• to study the existing legal framework in addressing content filtering and no censorship issue, including the impacts that are caused by the implementation to Internet users and the Malaysian economy.

The successful tenderer is also to visit Internet services oroviders (ISPs) and question them on various issues apart from studying countries which have some form of Internet filters to study the suitability for the Malaysian environment.

Among the recommended countries are India, Pakistan, Australia and Hong Kong. It is not known whether these countries use filters or what they are filtering.

Rais himself said last May that the proposal by some quarters for bloggers in Malaysia to be registered required in-depth study.

“The idea is good, but we have to see it from the legal aspects and from the aspect of freedom of Internet use. We have to see whether registering bloggers is in line with the provisions of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. We should not be hasty in implementing the proposal,” said the veteran minister.

But the move to filter blogs and websites is another matter altogether, Dhillon said.

"Filtering is 1990s technology and nobody is doing it anymore. Content-based filtering is so out of date that anybody can circumvent it easily using proxy servers," he said, adding "even my mother can do it, it is not difficult."

He pointed out that the government can implement the filter system and provide some short-term impact to those seeking to go to “undesirable” sites but "human nature is such it can find a way around it."

"The government is wasting money and just playing catch-up," Dhillon said.

He also pointed out that filtering content is censorship and goes against the MSC Bill of Guarantees Article 7 that reads "Ensure no Internet censorship".

"No matter how they want to word it, it is semantics, any move to tell us where we can go, what we can read is censorship no matter how they justify it," Dhillon added.

China controversially planned to install the “Green Dam Youth Escort” Internet filtering software on all computers but delayed implementation last July 1 although officials said it was only "a matter of time" until the software was installed.

In a notification to all users, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said: "In order to build a green, healthy, and harmonious online environment, and to avoid the effects on and the poisoning of our youth's minds by harmful information on the Internet, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Civilisation Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Ministry of Finance, in accordance with the Government Procurement Law, have used CPC financial capital to purchase one-year exclusive rights to use ‘Green Dam Youth Escort’ Green Online Filtering Software (hereinafter referred to as ‘Green Dam Youth Escort’) along with related services so that the whole society may use it free of charge. After comprehensive testing and pilot use, the software has been shown to effectively filter harmful content in text and graphics on the Internet and has already satisfied the conditions for pre-installation by computer manufacturers."

But the country's Internet users mounted a vociferous campaign against the policy that led to the MIIT delaying using the filter which officials claim will help to curb access to pornography, particularly by younger users.

Internet users say the image and keyword filter blocks pornographic, violent and politically sensitive content and monitors behaviour and fear it will be used to curb access to information and keep track of users.

Green Dam has also come under fire for exposing users to security breaches, with experts warning it could easily be hacked, and a US-based software firm is threatening to sue the Chinese developers for copyright infringement.

Industry bodies, the US government and others had also called on China to abandon the project.

Is this Najib's 1Malaysia?

Utusan Malaysia, being one of the UMNO-owned dailies, is now asking the Malays to fight back. The contents of one of the report in Utusan Malaysia today has directly, and publicly insulted non-Malay communities and, worst of all, it's calling on Malays to resist equality and dominance of non-Malays in every aspect of this country.

This is not the first time Utusan has been hostile towards opposition party and linking them with non-Malay dominance, but so far this is what some people call Najib's biggest challenge to prove his 1Malaysia ideology. To provoke anger in one specific race to suppress another race is just so wrong.

Is Najib reacting to this issue? Most probably he's just going to shut his ass up and as usual, rationalize the actions of Utusan by blaming everything on the opposition party.

Should the people believe Najib's promises to bring peace, unity and prosperity to all Malaysians? Unless he does something against Utusan or personally apologize for this incident, I dont think he is capable of walking the talk he has been boasting about recently.

I believe most of the Malays are able to digest this action as a mere political gimmick, but surely, the racist column of Utusan is amplifying the damage to our national unity.
Well, of course, none of the UMNO leaders have balls to defy Utusan's uncivilised action, simply because they're the ones who are orchestrating all these racial provocations to enhance their political positions - without racism, UMNO is virtually non-existent.

Yasmin Ahmad Dies at 51

One of the most prominent filmmaker and director in our country, Yasmin Ahmad, was pronounced dead yesterday at 11.25p.m. She was rushed to the hospital from Sri Pentas after passing out on the spot.

"Sepet" is her signature filming product and many other Petronas advertisements have also brought her into the walk of fame. In her works, the messages she tried to convey to the public, which are mostly related to care, love and affections, have touched thousands of people across our nation.

Yasmin was a fighter for all Malaysians. She had always wanted to promote unity among different races in Malaysia, which is an applaudable effort that many of our politicians failed to do. She was a True Malaysian.

In one of her latest posting in the blogspot, she mentioned about Beng Hock's death and wished that it had never happened in Malaysia. She even described Beng Hock's death as a "nightmare". It was only a few days before she died from an unsuspected stroke attack.

May God be with her soul, always. Rest in peace Yasmin, Malaysia has just lost another good Samaritan.

Sepet is a must watch..... for ALL Malaysians.

She speaks the truth... The truth that even we find it hard to accept sometimes.

Say NO to Bloodshed in Malaysian Politics!

People showed different reactions towards the tragic death Teoh Beng Hock. Like many of you, I am truly saddened by his death. But some people are not. Some people chose to look at this issue through the prism of politics and ethnic. Anyone with sound mind can tell you straight away that Beng Hock's death is unusual. He was detained in the MACC office and never released according to the CCTV footage; which is contrary to what the Anti-corruption commission had told the world. He died falling from the MACC office.

However, that 'some people' like UMNO members, who reacted to this case with arrogance and even voiced out their support for MACC, are trying to do some cover up for the suspects. Utusan, Berita Harian and TV3 have been used by UMNO to constantly bombarding Malaysians with information that would lead people to think that DAP had forced Beng Hock to jump, or that Beng Hock committed suicide.

Blog posts are written by anonymous writter making up absurd stories to tarnish the image of Ean Yong Hian Wah, Ronnie Liu and many other oppotision members. They borrowed Beng Hock's life to launch attacks on the opposition party; the same thing our government is always doing to those who are against their will.

Royal commission has been formed, yet, its not to probe into a certain aspects of Beng Hock's death.

What's the point of all these? Denying, avoiding, hiding and falsifying information related to Beng Hock's death is the problem to solving this puzzle now.

I still remember how Altantuya's immigration record was being completely cleared; and the real murderer who ordered the murder of her is still a free man out there. She was killed by a C4 hand grenade. And now, Beng Hock died falling from the MACC office. What had they done to deserve this sort of death sentence?

Many other criminals like Mahathir, Lingam, Khir Toyo et c, who violated the law infront of everyone are still out there trying to undermine unity among Malaysians.

The truly sad thing is that these people are constantly receiving support from people who thought they could bring about peace and prosperity to this country by being racist and corrupted.

Please dont let Beng Hock's death end up as another unsolved mystery; it clearly reflects the darkness within our country's dominant political parties and its time for us to fight back, and change before its too late.

Voice up your support and concern to Beng Hock's family and the future of all Malaysians, lets reject UMNO, racism, and bloodshed in politics.

Investigation Updates - Teoh Beng Hock's Death

Selangor State police chief comm Khalid says that they suspect that Beng Hock fell from the 14th floor, which is the MACC office where the victim was interrogated the whole night. The finding of some fine metal pieces belong to the window frames on the spot where Beng Hock's body was found led them to this hypothesis.

Besides, the CCTV footage also shows that in fact, Beng Hock DID NOT leave the MACC office at all until he was found dead on the 5th level of Plaza Masalam.

During the investigation process on the mystery death of Teoh, the police had also retrieved a mobile phone owned by Beng Hock from the MACC officers.

Khalid together with Musa Hassan also said that the investigation is already half way to completion.

PETALING JAYA, July 18 — Former MCA vice-president Datuk Chua Jui Meng, who lost two bids for the party's top post, confirmed his worst-kept secret and officially joined Parti KeAdilan Rakyat (PKR) today in a boost for the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) that has been wracked by differences between its three allies.

It is understood the former health minister had submitted his forms earlier and today’s announcement at a PKR forum was a formality, party sources said.

Former MCA Senator Datuk David Yeoh and former Lumut MP Datuk Yap Yit Thong also announced they were joining PKR to applause from the 1,000 members at the forum in Bandar Sunway here.

Chua and PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim were earlier enthusiastically greeted with loud cheers when they turned up at 3.30pm for the “The Truth Behind the Scandals: Perak, PKFZ and the BN Conspiracy” forum held at the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa.

The party members also strung up a banner that said “Congratulations to Chua for joining PKR”.

“I am resigning as a member of MCA and with the permission of PKR's de facto leader, I'm announcing that I'm joining PKR," Chua said as the crowd shouted “Reformasi”.

“I'm convinced that today I'm standing on the right side of history, especially at this defining moment of history, I'm joining this party.”

The 64-year-old lawyer quit as Bakri MCA division chief two days ago, after leading the division for the past 23 years. He ran for the MCA president’s post twice but lost to Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting in 2005 and Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat last year.

But he told his division he would stick with MCA and was giving up his post to allow fresh blood, asking them to give their undivided support to Tee Keat as party president.

At a press conference later, Chua said he was misquoted by the press. "I did not deny nor did I confirm," he said.

The MCA did not pick Chua to defend the Bakri parliamentary seat in Election 2008, leading to its loss to DAP's Er Teck Hwa and making it the sole opposition seat in Johor.

His defection is the latest sign of fractious politics in the MCA as deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek was recently issued a notice to appear before the party disciplinary board over his 2007 DVD sex scandal.

Chua also said MCA was destined to doom if it continues to be a mono-race party and this, he said, became one of the many reasons for leaving a party he has served since 1976.

"I noticed that I and Anwar share the same ideals. I believe in the two-party system and this is under heavy attack by the Umno-led government. This precipitated my decision to join them," he said further.

Chua also said that the sudden death of a PR political aide, Teoh Beng Hock, became the tipping point in his decision to join PKR, saying the incident, among others, prompted him to join in PR's fight in reforming the country.

MCA, he said, was no longer able to make the changes desired by the people as long as it bows down to what he calls the bullish leadership of BN's masters Umno.

Veteran Barisan Nasional leaders who have recently defected to PKR include former law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, MCA’s former deputy Wanita leader Dr Tan Yew Kew and former Gerakan veep Dr Tan Tee Kwong.

Anwar said Chua will definitely have a prominent post and role to play in the party. It will be decided once the party supreme council convenes.

Who Killed Teoh Beng Hock?

Teoh Beng Hock was found dead on the fifth floor of Plaza Masalam, which is just a few steps away from the office of Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

He was a groom-to-be, soon going to wed his fiancee this weekend. However, after being interrogated by the MACC officer, Beng Hock's family received the news of his death the next afternoon.

According to Tan Boon Wah, the Kajang Municipal Councillor who was also summoned to the MACC office told the media that they were threatened, mentally and physically during the marathon interrogation conducted by the MACC. Foul languagues, racist slurs are among the unprofessional techniques used by the gangster-like MACC officers to force them to admit guilt in corruption case.

The concept of 1Malaysia is again proven another slogan(slogan only) by the unscrupulous government.

MACC didnt seem to care much about PKFZ scandal, Khir's Palace, Zakaria's Palace and many other cases which cost Malaysians billions of ringgit every year, but they're particularly interested in selectively picking up issues on the opposition parties. Although they claimed that they treated every individual equally, the results produced by MACC failed to convinced the public on their 'neutral position' in handling corruption cases.

Reacting to this incident, generally, Malaysians mourned the dead and showed their sympathy to Beng Hock's family. Contrary to the the majority Malaysians who are still in a shock as a result of Beng Hock's death, our government ministers and the head of MACC were quick to defend themselves, even before the opposition party started to condemn the incident.

Shukri responded immediately to the media and said that they did not have any CCTV fitted on the MACC building.

Khir Toyo defended MACC and said it should not be held responsible for this tragedy.

Nazri tried to relate Beng Hock's death with suicide case by claiming that "they do not know when Teoh was going to jump from the building."

The both MACC government is in a state of denial. They refused to be responsible to the death of Beng Hock even though he died in the custody of MACC and, on the building as well.

Government urged people not to make wild speculations or allegations; they expect all the citizens to keep quiet and forget about this isssue. But, what's the point of that if they themselves do not act accordingly to the law, and acted in a very secretive manner as if they're do not want other people to keep an eye on them? They're not transparent enough to even speak for themselves in this case.

People will judge with their sound minds and with their own eyes no matter what. Government is not our God and they have no control over our basic rights to voice out opinions.

I believe that suicide is a very highly unlikely answer to Teoh's death.
While the police are carrying out investigations on this tragic political drama, I can't help but to wonder, Who Killed Teoh Beng Hock?

MACC and the Mystery, Tragic Death of Teoh

Teoh Beng Hock, the political secretary of Ean Yong Hian Wah, died within the building of MACC, while being detained by the MACC. Hence, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission will be fully responsible to his death. Is this a mere suicide case? Or was it a carefully planned assasination? If this is a plot, WHO will be the primary suspect?

I guess only MACC can tell.
I really hate to think about it, but there is a feeling inside me telling me that an operation to wipe out Pakatan Rakyat's territories from the map of Malaysia has just begun.

SHAH ALAM: A man died after having fallen off Plaza Masalam here where the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has its office on the 14th floor.

The man is believed to be Teoh Beng Hock, political secretary to Selangor executive council member Ean Yong Hian Wah, who was taken in for questioning by the MACC Wednesday evening.

The body was discovered by a janitor at 1:30pm on Thursday on the fifth floor of the building. Police have yet to give a positive identity, but DAP officials say it is Teoh.

According to police sources, Teoh was released at 4am on Thursday after having been held overnight. He was supposed to have returned later Thursday with several documents requested by the MACC.

Selangor Chief Police Officer Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar, who confirmed that a body had been found, said police would be interviewing the man who was last seen with Teoh.

"There is not going to be any cover-up in investigations and I assure the public and his family we will conduct a thorough investigation into his death.

"We have requested for private and government pathologists to be present and assist us in our investigations," he said.

Several Selangor executive council members were at the scene Thursday afternoon.

DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang said he and other Pakatan Rakyat leaders would be meeting the MACC at 10am on Friday.

Najib's Sweet Promises

Najib announced a series of government's new priorities, which he claimed would benefit the people of Malaysia during his 100th day on the throne as the PM of this country.

What had he done in this 100 days, and are they parallel to his One Malaysia slogan? Violation of human rights like the illegal detention of Wong Chin Huat, racist remarks to create racial tension by his deputy, Muhyiddin are a few of the many "remarkable" achievements in this 100 days under the new administration.

Just like some of Najib's announcements before like the "New PSD Scholarships" and the "Scrapping of 30% Bumi Quota in investment industry", his new announcements possess vague concept of One Malaysia and I doubt if these new measures will benefit average Malaysians to any great extent.

For example, the 20% rebate for road users who pay for toll more than 80 times in a month's time. An average Malaysian who are forced to pay toll each day to work will pay only about 60 times of toll in a month, and yet, it is already a great burden to an average- income family who struggle to make ends meet each month with that little bit of salary. These people will continue to pay full rate for the toll, which in fact they're not suppose to pay a single cent in the first place.

For Kampung people, paying for toll which can cost more than 100ringgit in a round trip(from Perak to JB) is a burden that our filthy rich minister will never understand or experience.

Few other 'efforts' are like combating crimes and corruption, complete the processing of citizenship application by the end of this year are equally unclear in terms of How they will be carried out and What standardized measures will be applied to make sure they will reach the target as promised.

Under Abdullah's reign, red tape in the public services has been significantly reduced, for example, citizens can now obtain their passports in less than half-day's time after application.
The question here is, can Najib deliver these sweet pledges, or will they end up like some of Abdullah's failed slogans like the Tak Nak campaign and also the vow to curb corruptions?

To mark 100 days, a cut in road toll and a slew of promises

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 — To mark his 100th day in office, the prime minister pledged that his government would be accountable to voters.

He also announced a slew of measures, including a cut in road tolls and an increase in the number of individual taxi permits, in a bid to build on his high approval rating so far to win back support for the Barisan Nasional (BN).

In a televised address to the nation, Datuk Seri Najib Razak also outlined the focus of his administration would be in six key areas:

• The prevention of crime;

• The fight against corruption;

• Access to quality education;

• The improvement of the living standards for the lower income group;

• Improvement of rural infrastructure;;

• Improvement of public transportation.

“We must be responsible to the rakyat. It is all about performance now, performance driven government,” he told a special gathering at the KLCC Convention Centre here to mark his 100 days in office.

Despite scoring an approval rating of 65 per cent in a recent poll by the independent Merdeka Center, Najib has come under fire from his allies and rivals alike in recent days, especially over his reversal of the English policy and also the economic liberalisation programme.

He appears to be ignoring the criticism and is now staking his administration on winning over ordinary Malaysians.

Besides offering motorists a 20 per cent discount for those who use toll roads more than 80 times a month and increasing the number of individual taxi permits by 3,000, he also announced:

• The allocation of 44,000 units in public housing projects to be offered for sale to tenants;

• A 50 per cent reduction in license fees for petty traders in the Federal Territories;

• Drastic steps to be taken to combat crime and graft of which details would be announced later;

• A pledge to settle birth registration issues in east Malaysia;

• A pledge to settle citizenship applications in East Malaysia;

• A pledge to build up to 1,500 kilometres of rural roads;

• Efforts to be made to improve water and electricity supply to east Malaysia;

• A reduction in the cost of motorcycle riding courses from RM500 to RM211;

• A new Amanah Saham 1 Malaysia with 10 billion units offered for sale to all Malaysians above 18.

The prime minister stayed on his signature 1 Malaysia message throughout the event and the festivities reflected that.

There was no talk of the supremacy or privileges of any ethnic group.

Instead, the increasingly familiar refrain of unity among all races and putting the public first was repeated several times.

Formalities were noticeably low key, save for the red carpet, and the seating arrangements were deliberately left open to encourage cabinet ministers to mingle with the public.

“Whether Malay, Chinese, Indian, Sikh, Iban, Kadazan, Bidayuh, Orang Asli, Siamese, we are all Malaysian citizens. If we can move together as one team, one people, one nation, we will be greatly successful,” said Najib.

Perhaps to drive home his commitment towards fostering racial unity and acceptance, the printed text of his speech was delivered to him by a symbolic retinue of 11 children consisting of different ethnicities from east and west Malaysia.

The most humorous moments came when Najib reminisced about his walkabouts during the first few days of office, when he visited derelict flats, ate “tosai” in Brickfields, bought fake Louise Vuitton bags at Petaling street and inhaled the stinking pollution at the infamous Pudu bus station so much so that “the smell still sticks till today.”

He noted that his directives to improve conditions at the locales he visited are being carried out quickly, including a makeover of the Pudu bus station and plans for a Little India in Brickfields.

He left unanswered, however, the question of what happens if the prime minister is too busy or unable to do walkabouts?

Najib also extended an olive branch to critics of the government’s human rights record.

“The era of government knows best is over,” he said. “We will consult the public including on the review of the Internal Security Act and this includes consulting the Bar Council and other NGOs.”

My Thoughts on PPSMI

Final decision has been made to reintroduce the teaching of maths and science in mother tongue from year 2012 onwards. This massive change will be accompanied by an increase in the hour of English lesson, and also some other policies aiming at strengthening the basic command of English language among Malaysian students.

There has been a series of protests and data provided by NGO to rebut the effectiveness of PPSMI in educating our children nowadays. Question has been raised by the parents whether our teachers were ready to conduct math and science classes fully and effectively in English. While few teachers can communicate fluently in English, many students especially those who do not have english-speaking background and also students in the rural areas failed to receive benefits from the implementation of PPSMI.

Personally, I second the decision made by the cabinet, although they should have realized the problems occurred in PPSMI long ago and fixed the problems right away.

People must accept the facts that:

1. Most Malaysians and their kids do not have english-speaking background, and therefore, what they need is a more effective and acceptable way of learning their second or third language.

Malaysian kids should be given more English language lessons and be exposed to a series of effective ways of learning the international language.

2. PPSMI was not carefully planned and its strategy failed miserably although hundreds of millions of ringgit was generously poured into this education project.

Besides wasting a large sum of money to corruptions and ali baba projects, the time, energy and money spent on our education policies are obviously impotent effort to help improving the standard of English language among our students, let alone learning math and science in English (PPSMI).

Funding for more teaching materials and training for English teachers is absolutely necessary to increase the command of English of Malaysian students.

3. Teachers did not receive adequate trainings, time, and resources to switch the language medium in math and science subjects from BM to English. In fact, especially in national schools, MANY teachers are still using Bahasa Malaysia to conduct math and science lessons.

4. It is one of the dumbest idea to learn language through math and science, or otherwise. Before children can start learning math and science from the books, they MUST be able to, at least, understand the usage of language itself. Language acts as a MEDIUM to deliver messages and knowledge, while Math and Science are very technical and complicated SKILLS for the young.

Attempting to master math and science through a language medium which they are not familiar with, is just not going to work out. PPSMI is useless unless everyone in Malaysia is ready to adopt the use of English in their everyday lives; this would mea our Bahasa Malaysia and other languages will lose their values and priority on this land.

5. Not learning Math and Science in English does not necessarily means we will become not competitive internationally. Japan, Germany and France are good examples of how the native language of one country can provide their own people with the most updated technologies and information. Please don't tell me that we cannot make it because we're Malaysians; if we never try, we will never achieve anything.

What we need are more passion and realistic hard work in developing our own knowledge and ideas in the field of science & technology; it doesn't make us a more clever nation by learning everything else in English if we can't even construct a proper sentence using that language.

6. I left out this point earlier.

To teach math and science in mother tongue is vital for primary school level. During primary school level, children start to fortify their command of languages. Children in primary school level are best educated in their mother tongue for math and science subjects. Teaching Math and Science in a language which students are familiar with will obviously yield better results.

However, PPSMI can be retained in the higher secondary school level when they have stronger command of English ( which is a second language to many Malaysians), to equip them for the next level of higher education, like STPM, Matrikulasi and Universities . It's during secondary school when students will most probably have sufficient confidence and ability to learn new knowledge in their second language.

MATH AND SCIENCE BACK TO BAHASA, MOTHER TONGUE (UPDATED)

KUALA LUMPUR: The Cabinet has decided that the medium of instruction for Maths and Science will revert to Bahasa Malaysia in national schools and mother-tongue languages in national-type schools from 2012 onwards.

The reversal of the Teaching of Math and Science in English (PPSMI) policy will be done in stages, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said on Wednesday.

He however added that there will be greater emphasis on learning the English language.

English literature will be re-introduced, as will subjects on grammar and composition.

Beginning 2012, students in Year One and Year Four in primary schools, and Form One and Form Four in secondary schools, will learn Math and Science in Bahasa Malaysia.

The change will not affect those in Form Six and Matriculation.

The two subjects will be taught in two languages until 2014 for other students, he said.

“The gap between rural and urban students has widened since PPSMI started.

“Only 19.2% of secondary teachers and 9.96% of primary teachers were sufficiently proficient in English,” he said, explaining the Government’s decision to revert to the old system.

On efforts to emphasise the learning of English, the number of English teachers would be increased by 13,933 -- retirees would be hired, as well as foreigners if need be.

Primary schools will also increase English classes by 90 minutes a week.

There have been calls from various groups for the policy to revert to before 2003, when the subjects were taught in Bahasa Malaysia in national schools, and either in Chinese or Tamil in national-type schools.

The issue has seen a rare alliance between Malay and Chinese educationists, who are against the switch, although there are also calls by many parents and entrepreneurs for English to be maintained.

I last used Penang bridge not long ago, and as usual, there were at least 2 motorcycles getting flat tyres on the bridge. Penang Bridge Sdn Bhd(PBSB) had to pick up sharp objects that caused flat tyres to vehicles using a modified truck with magnetic field at the bottom front, targeting mainly at Nails. These nails arent there for no reason; they provide the mechanics some business who are there waiting on the bridge like preying vultures. A normal flat tyre repair which costs around 10 ringgit will now price even higher on the bridge, usually double the normal rate.

However, PBSB is offering towing services and flat tyre repair motorcyclist, without any charges.

BUTTERWORTH: Penang Bridge Sdn Bhd (PBSB) is now offering free towing services for motorcycles which break down or experience a flat tyre on the bridge.

Penang Public Works, Utilities and Transportation Committee chairman Lim Hock Seng said the move was aimed at preventing unscrupulous mechanics from imposing exorbitant charges to fix flat tyres on the bridge.

“Some mechanics have been charging between RM25 and RM30 to replace the inner tube of motorcycle tyres when the cost is only about RM10 to RM12 at workshops.

“Most motorcyclists pay the high charges as they have no other alternative when their vehicles stall on the bridge,” he said, adding that while the towing service was free, motorcyclists would have to bear their own repair costs.

Motorcyclists, he added, could call the PBSB Bridgeline at 1300-1300-03 or use the emergency telephone on the bridge to report their breakdown.

“A tow truck will be deployed to send the motorcycle either to PBSB-designated repair sites off the bridge or to the nearest workshop,” he said Saturday, adding that the service, which began last Wednesday, was available daily between 7am and 8pm.

PBSB deputy general manager Abd Rahman Hassan said it had received numerous complaints of unscrupulous persons scattering nails on the bridge to “make a fast buck”.

“With assistance from the police, we will continue to keep a close watch to reduce such activities,” he said, adding that there were 422 cases of motorcycle tyre punctures reported on the bridge in 2007 and 260 between January and September 2008.

KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 — Malaysia today made sweeping changes to its capital markets to boost foreign investments, cutting Bumiputera equity quotas for share offerings and in fund management firms while trimming the role of a powerful but conservative panel overseeing such investments.

Datuk Seri Najib Razak dropped the 30 per cent Bumiputera equity requirement for Malaysian firms seeking public listing, the cornerstone of the New Economic Policy (NEP), but they will now have to offer 50 per cent of the public shareholding spread to Bumiputera investors.

The public shareholding spread is currently 25 per cent which effectively sets the minimum allocation for bumiputeras at 12.5 per cent.

“The 30 per cent requirement remains but it is a macro objective,” the prime minister told reporters after announcing the changes while launching the InvestMalaysia week and meeting with senior fund managers.

He said the Bumiputera equity condition within the public spread will reinforce the competitiveness of Bursa Malaysia.

Najib also cut the powers of the Foreign Investments Committee (FIC), immediately repealing its guidelines covering the acquisition of equity stakes, mergers and takeovers.

The FIC will no longer process any share transactions nor impose equity conditions on such transactions — which has been its mainstay up to yesterday.

Najib also said FIC approval for property transactions will now only be required when it involves a dilution of Bumiputera or government interest for properties valued at RM20 million and above, while other transactions, including between foreigners and non-Bumiputeras, will not require approval.

“In addition, to further ease raising funds from the capital markets, post listing fund raising exercises will no longer be subject to any equity condition,” Najib said in his speech, adding this deregulation will immediately support existing listed companies seeking to raise funds and reduce the friction cost of compliance.

Najib, who is also Finance Minister, also liberalised ownership in the wholesale segment of the fund management industry, allowing total ownership for qualified and leading fund management companies seeking to be in Malaysia.

He also raised the limit for foreign shareholding in unit trust management firms to 70 per cent, from 49 per cent previously.

To boost the local markets, Najib has set up a private equity fund, called Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (Ekuinas), with an initial capital of RM500 million to invest in private sector funds, to promote genuine partnerships and a fully commercial approach.

He disclosed that Bumiputera participation through Ekuinas will be based on merit. The fund will eventually grow to RM10 billion.

“There should be no doubt that Malaysia welcomes foreign and local investors and participants. We can achieve high income by creating more opportunities for growth rather than protecting our narrow turf. We can only achieve our social equity goals by expanding the pie,” said Najib.

“A high income society must be socially inclusive. It must provide incentives to those who have a lot yet be fair to those who have a little. It must lead to high returns to companies and entrepreneurs who invest, better and higher incomes for those who are employed and greater capability for those who require assistance to help themselves or to get help from the government. Above all, a high income society must be one where every Malaysian feels they have a place and a promising future under the Malaysian sun.”

When asked about a possible backlash from the bumiputera community during the press conference, Najib later told reporters that he does not expect one. “It is a win-win situation,” he said.

“These moves are necessitated by two major factors – the economic environment has changed drastically and the FIC has not produced the desired results. Any new instruments for growth with equity must be more market friendly. The new policies will make our economy even more vibrant and put the country quite high up on the investor’s list.”

While there is no more equity condition imposed by the FIC, there could still equity restrictions from sector regulators such as Bank Negara, the Energy Commission and the Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board.

While there is the condition that half of the public shareholding spread be allocated to bumiputeras via balloting, the condition will be waived if there are no bumiputeras willing or able to take up the allocation.

Najib added that the FIC can be considered retired and a new unit will be created under the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) to monitor bumiputera participation in the economy as well as property transactions valued above RM20 million that involve dilution of bumiputera equity.

“You can say that the FIC no longer exists and a new unit created by (minister in the prime minister’s department) Tan Sri Nor Yackop will be created to replace it in the EPU,” he told reporters.

More details on the new private equity fund, Ekuinas, which is designed to boost bumiputera participation in the economy are expected to be announced later. But for now, the government has revealed that the initial funds will come from the budget and it will report to the prime minister with the EPU having a supervisory role.

It will be run by professionals and not civil servants but owned by the government. It will focus on nurturing bumiputera businessmen in sectors considered to be high growth such as education, tourism, oil and gas and ICT.

“We still have a number of instruments to help bumiputeras such as PNB (Permodalan Nasional Berhad), Mavcap (Malaysia Venture Capital Management Berhad), scholarships and training,” said minister in the prime minister’s department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop in a briefing to reporters. “What we are doing is removing the hindrances to investors. Local and foreign investors hesitate to come in because of the FIC. With higher growth, bumiputeras will also benefit.”

He also said that the FIC is a “blunt tool” for wealth distribution and noted that RM52 out of RM54 billion in shares allocated for bumiputeras between 1984 and 2005 have been “sold quickly.”

Figures provided by the government puts the bumiputera equity figure at about 19 per cent currently.

Nor Mohamed added that he thinks the new measures will make the country investor friendly and competitive overnight and that investment in the country will increase by “leaps and bounds”.

Foreign fund manager Shireen Muhiudeen of Corston-Smith Asset Management says that the announcements are a “step in the right direction.”

She approved of the elimination of the bumiputera quota when raising new capital and the higher ceiling for foreign ownership in stock broking companies saying that it may increase competition and help bring down loading charges.

She however wanted the government to provide more details on the impact of sector regulation on investors.

Head of research at OSK Research, Chris Eng says that the changes will have help market sentiment and attract new listings to Malaysia but does not see any immediate impact.

“Big companies have no problem getting bumiputera investors anyway when raising new funds,” he points out.

He expects the main beneficiaries of the new policies to be investment banks as there would be less regulation for them to deal with.

He also sees the property sector benefitting from foreign investment in the long term but not in the short term as he forecasts a property glut to happen around 2012.

In other announcements, government linked companies (GLCs), will have to focus on core activities and dispose of non-core activities and not compete in areas best left to entrepreneurs.

They will also be required to compete on a level playing field with the private sector.

“There is no issue of the government providing assistance to GLCs by virtue of its shareholding to the detriment of private sector competition,” said Najib.

The lifting of the 30 per cent quota on new public listings is effective immediately and will affect companies currently applying to list.

PM Announces New Investment Rules

There are a few major changes in the investment guidelines following the move to liberalize the market. These changes includes abolishing the Foreign Investment Committee and also the introduction of Ekuinas. It is reported that a new set of guidelines will be introduced by one of the department under the Ministry of Prime Minister.

Now, listed companies are no longer required to comply with the 30%-Bumi equity requirement rule and as a result, Ekuinas is set up, which is a brand new investment institution aiming at stimulating participation of Bumiputera in the investment field.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Foreign Investment Committee (FIC) guidelines covering the acquisition of equity stakes mergers and takeovers is repealed immediately without any new guideline in place.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak also said that FIC would no longer process any transaction or impose equity conditions on such transactions.

“I am pleased to announce a comprehensive deregulation of investment guidelines administered by the FIC,” he said that as part of a slew of liberalisation measures on the Malaysian capital market that will have the same impact as the banking and services sector.

The other two guidelines encompass treatment of fund raising by a list of companies in the acquisition of properties, he said in his keynote address at the Investment Malaysia Conference in a hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.

Najib also announced a new investment institution called Equity Nasional Bhd (Ekuinas), a private equity fund with an initial capital of RM500mil that would be subsequently enlarged to a RM10bil fund.

It would focus on investments in sectors with high growth potential in line with the new economic model.

Najib also said that the ownership in the wholesale segment of the fund management industry would be fully liberalised to allow 100% ownership for qualified and leading fund management companies to establish operations in Malaysia.

He said that for the retail segment, foreign shareholding limits on unit trust management companies would be raised to 70% from its current level of 49%.

These measures would to further strengthen Malaysia’s position in the fund management and unit trust management of the capital market value chain and allow fund managers an additional option to establish their own operation in the region, he said.

New "Category" of PSD Scholarships?

Starting 2010, SPM students will only be able to register for a maximum of 10 subjects. The implementation of this policy will coincide with the new form of PSD scholarships, Najib said.

This new "category" of scholarships will be given based on 100% Merit, without the Racial quota.

However, it was not revealed on how many scholarships are available.

I hope this "new" scholarships would Not become an excuse for PSD to slash non Bumiputera applicants in other forms of scholarships. MARA provides hundreds of oversea scholarships to bumiputera only each year, while PSD scholarships are still awarded to students mainly based on racial status, and some other unclear/poorly defined criteria.

Limiting the number of subjects a student can register in SPM will surely decrease the competition among SPM students. Imagine nowadays PSD claimed that students scoring 16As were left out because of limited scholarships available, and what will happen next year when hundreds and thousands of students scoring 10As? Can this policy solve the problem in the first place? Unless government's intention is to prevent a certain group of students from scoring more A's than another group of students, or else this measure is totally unnecessary and anti competitive.

What would happen when all intelligent students who should have gotten 11 As or more, are now able to score only 10A's? Of course the value of 10A's will be as cheap as the value of getting 8A's in PMR. That is when 10A's is no longer a parameter to distinguish smart ones from the average /mediocre students as many people will enjoy the same 'top grade'.

When this phenomenon takes place, government will now have all the reason to reject most of the 10A's scorers from getting the scholarships. Inequalities like the practice of favoritism and lack of transparency will eventually be 'legalised' by this policy as PSD can now choose whoever they want among all the top scorers/10A's scorers of the whole nation.

Will the "new category" of PSD scholarships help solving the root of the same old scholarships issues?

We shall wait and see.

PUTRAJAYA: A new category of Public Service Department (PSD) scholarships will be introduced next year based purely on merit, regardless of race.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he was sure that such a category would be welcomed by all communities, including the Chinese.

“We are restudying the distribution of scholarships under the Public Service Department scheme to introduce a new category.

“We will announce it next year and with the plan to limit the Sijil Pelajaran Malay-sia to 10 subjects, we expect to see a more level playing field,” he said in his speech at a dinner organised by the MCA and the Associated Chinese Chamber of Com-merce and Industry Malaysia here yesterday.

Najib said this would allow Malay-sia’s best students to receive aid to pursue higher studies.

“So the best of the best and the creme de la creme will get aid for higher studies.

“I believe this will be accepted well and it will allow each individual a fair chance to realise his full potential,” he said, adding, however, that he was not “letting the cat out of the bag” just yet about the scheme.

Najib said that contrary to perception, not all Chinese were rich.

“Like all Malaysians, they also want to see their children have a good education and become successful. All this involves costs,” he said, adding that every race had its needs and if the Government could bring policies that were fair, the Chinese would continue to support the Barisan Nasional.

Najib said the Chinese were not against Malays succeeding or were opposed to efforts to help the bumiputras, but that they wanted policies which looked at the needs of all Malaysians fairly.

“And that’s why I included it in the 1Malaysia concept,” he said, adding that he would also look into MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat’s request for more government land to build Chinese vernacular schools.

Najib said that during his trip to China, the Chinese government had also promised to bring more investments to Malaysia.

“I’m told they are preparing a loan fund as a sign of their commitment to us. I believe there is an opportunity for China to help boost Malaysia’s economy in terms of development, which will include the banking sector as well,” he said.

“I have also looked into the needs of the local Chinese community when I introduced the 1Malaysia plan, which covers the needs of all regardless of colour, ethnicity and culture,” he added.

Ong said in his speech that the dinner was not just to celebrate the appointment of Najib as Prime Minister but to also show that the Chinese community would always be with the Government and his leadership as it strives to overcome the current economic problems.

It has been a 6-long years of debate whether or not the teaching of Science and Mathematics in English implemented during Mahathir's era should be abolished. The Government has revealed its plan to make the crucial decision latest by early July this year, on the education policy which cost governments hundreds of million ringgit.

Muhyiddin Yassin told the Parliament that this policy has only a small effect in increasing the overall results (around 2-3%) of Mathematics and Science all these years. He also said that the poor command of English among Science and Mathematics teachers has contributed to this situation, whereby not much improvements were seen in the standard of these two subjects after the policy was implemented 6 years ago.

I personally support using mother tongue as medium in teaching Mathematics and Science in PRIMARY school level, and then only introduce the teaching of Science and Mathematics in English in SECONDARY level. This will certainly provide students with better understanding in these two subjects, rather than wanting our kids to learn Science and Maths before they even know how to communicate properly in English. I'll discuss more about this issue later in other post.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Government will make its decision on the teaching of Science and Mathematics in English (better known by its Malay acronym PPSMI) early next month, Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.

He said the Government’s full analysis and the ministry paper on the PPSMI policy have been completed and will be handed over to the Cabinet for deliberation soon.

“We will make a full announcement by early July.

“Whatever decision that comes out will be for the people’s benefit and goes in line with the Prime Minister’s ‘people first’ vision,” he told Parliament.

He said that a study conducted by the ministry and researchers from local universities revealed that overall, teachers and students achieved only a moderate level of knowledge in English.

“The ministry’s focus then is to improve English knowledge among teachers and students by improving the training programme for teachers and improving the learning of English in schools.

“We are looking into introducing English literature in schools to improve students’ knowledge of the language, and the functions of the school computer laboratories will also be upgraded with better software and equipment for the teaching of English subject.

“The Ministry also wants to resolve the gap between the achievements in English of students in the urban and rural areas since the PPSMI policy was introduced in phases in 2003.

“The final decision in the implementation of the PPSMI policy will also look into the policy’s effect on students in both urban and rural areas,” he said in reply to Dr Tan Seng Giaw (DAP-Kepong).

New Element Added to Periodic Table

A new super-heavy element was officially added to the periodic table last week, after a decade of research. Element 112 is now the heaviest element in the periodic table and is about 277 times heavier than hydrogen, the lightest element.

Element 112 was first detected in 1996, by a team of scientists from the Centre for Heavy Ion Research in Germany. In order to have the element officially recognised by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, they were required to repeat experiments and perform new ones in order to provide more evidence for the element’s existence.

Element 112 is not found in nature – it is made in particle accelerators. To make the element, scientists fire accelerated zinc atoms with 30 protons towards lead atoms with 82 protons. The collision can result in this new element with 112 protons.

Now don’t throw out your chemistry textbook just yet! Element 112 has not yet received its final name, which will be revealed later in the year.
