Concert With Jit Sin's Living Legend
*
*
幻之夜 by 日中华乐团
*
SMJK Jit Sin Chinese Ochestra
*
*
What a wonderful night. Memorable, romantic and graceful. It's no ordinary experience like any other band concert you can get elsewhere. I would like to share with you my one-night-aquaintance with the concert conducted by SMJK Jit Sin Chinese Ochestra, which is also one of the world's top chinese ochestra band.

The Brightest Night
*
一踏入那属于相当高等级的大会堂,立即感受到那股令人无法解释的兴奋感;那从日中华乐团散发出的魅力及气质。。。。
*
I managed to squeeze myself into a very tiny space at the far end from the stage. Its so lucky of me to have entered the hall ealier, or else I would have ended up like those pity who stood on the isle.... Soon after the opening ceremony, the band marched in to the stage. Everybody became silent. All of the JSCO performers had their seats occupied. Then, the music began after the student conductor waved her wand.Streams of melody invaded my ears and soul....The first song that came into the performance was 羽调。While savouring my mind with the smooth melody, I enjoyed watching the movements of the performers too. Its totally fantastic to see how each and everyone of the giant chinese ochestra band played their parts so delicately; producing a excellent rythem. Its truly amazing that the combination of all sorts of chinese musical instruments is a high-quality form of sound. By manipulating the team work so well, JSCO seemed like a perfect band with wonderful performance on stage, and indeed , it is.

List of musics:
1.羽调
*
*
*
*
*
Encore.
*
最后一场的演出使我感到一阵阵的伤感。。。。。我才发现到,我爱上了华乐。。
*
The last theme was played. I stood up to give the band a standing ovation. JSCO deserved more than that. But the best an audience could do to show his appreciation to their performance is to give a minutes-long applause. Just as the conductor was about to leave, suddenly the crowd managed to get Lim back to his position. The word "ENCORE!!" echoed the auditorium. Without wasting any time, and spontaneously, they played the one last serenade till the end. The ending was so beautiful. Graceful, as I said, the momentum of the performance made its peak; and eventually ended in a calm and peaceful manner.
I felt so hard to leave the auditorium, coz I knew it would be some time for me to be able to catch up with the next JSCO concert. And now you know why I said that JitSin Chinese Ochestra is the living legend of our school, coz this is not merely a personal compliment from me; it's a fact that they are, indeed.
×
日中华乐团,加油!

First Rat Done; No Second One.
.
.
First Day

.
- Everyone waited for Mr Koay early in the morning. And he was late...excuse given? "Haiya, I purposely come late one lar, .. You all dunno meh? If i come earlier I would have to kill those rat...See now Mr.Jalil done it all for me already....Yea, I dont kill.".... Sounds like a "guru" :S None of us seemed to be afraid of the rat, and i think girls had managed their fear for the tiny creature in quite an "elegant" manner.. eg: holding the pity-o-rat using only finger tips, as if it is smelly and dirty. But to my surprise, the dead rats werent smelly at all..
.
- Morning breeze with Dettol smell. Yep. After the rats had been killed, they were soaked in Dettol solution. Each and everyone of us got one white corpse. Some girls wanted small rat , and some prefered female rat... Reasons ? They said big rats are disgusting and female rats have no big testicles like the males... Thank goodness i got a giant male rat, and why? Coz those who got small ones found it difficult to see the abdoments and blood vessels in detail, and the most interesting prize goes to those who got pregnant female.......... MUAHAHA.....

.
- Actually the procedure to dissect a rat is quite simple, at least it is compared to those docs who deal with human body. First, pin the rat on the dissecting board with their abdominal part facing upwards; Second, use forceps to pull their skin up; Third, use the blunt-head scissors to cut the rat's skin; Fourth,....... Am I gonna type all that here? Crazy !the procedures are pages long.

*

*
Please Read The Biology Student's Manual

*

*
- At first we thought that we're lucky coz the dead rat didnt smell bad. But, after around two hours, they started to stink. YUCKS......... they smell exactly like dead chicken..... Luckily we were able to get the first phase done before 12.30pm. Amazingly, most of us were able to maintain our appetite for lunch:P

.(Pull downwards for more photos)

.
.
.
.

Second day

.
- Nobody dared to open the rat's coffin. We stored all the dissected rats into formalin solution earlier that day. And for the second time, we'll have to operate on the same rats again but this time the target part is the thoracic region. Chun Keat was appointed as the undertaker, so he took out all the dead things and delivered to everybody. Although the rats were preserved with formalin, the unstopable smell ruined our nerves. YUCKS again. And this time I didnt get to wear a surgical mask coz there was no enough masks for each and everyone of us. The dissection continued.......

*

Please Read the Biology Student's manual

*

*

- A group of girl yelled hysterically. I didnt know what was happening. But then i saw Koay Tian Soo was chopping down a rat's head. He looked desperate. This bloody secene reminded me of the video tape released by the Iraqis insurgents who beheaded a Korean. No comments. Humans shall always rule the beings on earth... this is what i knew....

.
.
And yea, no more second rat for us to dissect as Koay Tian Soo had promised us earlier. The excuse? " ahaha.... i think most of you were doing good enough already... and most of you here can identify the blood vessels... ermmm... ermm... i dont think we will have to dissect the second one already lar......" What an excuse:P To me its a great loss for not being able to dissect a second one but to most of the girls, its a great relief...
.

.

What a pity: 32 rats were being killed and soaked in Dettol.

Family Disaster : Father(top), Mother(middle) and Son(the bottom) of the rat's family laid dead on the lab's table.

.

Rattus Expert : Lee Ing(first from left), Mr.Koay a。k。a 小郭,Li Qun and Woan Pyn. Mr.Koay is the one who claimed himself as an "enlightened guru" that never kills.

.

.

Rat's anatomy: Abdomens and intestines of a dissected male rat.

.

Displaying: Rat being pinned on a waxed board before furthur incisions.

Great job: Lee Showing off his perfectly dissected rat.

.

Serious matter: Chin Yee is pulling out the intestine of the rat carefully. Nice work man!

Guru said we are qualified as true biology students only when we've dissected a rat. And here we've done it:P Congrats everyone! WOnderful experience with ya all in the lab!:P

Tagged

This post has nothing to do with Bio One, and its quite a personal one. This is called a chain game or what( i prefer to call it a chain curse, lol) as it has such wacky rule for each tagged blogger:

*tagged by Housefly-ing*

Each player of this game starts off with ten weird things or habits or little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged must write in a blog of their own ten weird things or habits or little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you must choose six people to be tagged and list their names.

1. I'm a nocturnal being.( I love night and I hate daytime. I love stars and moon but not the sun)
2. Have a very constant body weight (hard to shed my weight)
3. Dont wear shirt when at home.
4. Have 3 twister-shaped-hair-"formation" on both my hands and another one on my back
5. Saliva "pouring" out from mouth whenever i fall asleep.
6. Like to clean my ear using cotton buds. (a must-do everyday, dunno why)
8. Walk and talk in my sleep (complained by mom,and scared my grandpa once)
7. Enjoy being massaged and scratched at the back.
9. Like to express my own thinking and philosophy (many ppl dont like it)
10. Get choked very easily when talking to girls.

Sorry buddy i gotta tag ya!

Rat Dissection - What You're Going to See.

As what I had mentioned earlier before, we are going to dissect two rats; one is for practise and another one is the real practical in which you'll be evaluated for the practical paper. I had already went through the photostated paper which have been delivered by Mr. Koay Tian Soo and I dont think the real situation matches exactly the same as what you can see from his notes. Well, I'm not saying that the notes cannot be used, just that I think its better to scan through the photos of rat's anatomy, so that you all can get better picture of what you're going to see when dissecting a rat next week. I have just found a very dependable source from the internet which has part of what we need to know while identifying the rat's anatomy. Below are some very detail photos of rat's anatomy... Let's check it out man!
Before you proceed, its important to know that NOT ALL information provided here can be used. Any misconducts later is not within the Blog Owner's responsibility.

I would like to dividethe rat's anatomy into three parts, which consist of rat abdomen, rat reproductive and excretory and also rat cardiovascular.

OMGoodness....... ! Three hours spent!... My longest post ever..

Although this is just a post for reference, I still hope that it can help ya all handling the experiment in a easier way, where you can identify the parts of the rat very quickly.

Quote

Mr.Koay , " Girls, until now there is still no record of girl get fainted when seeing the rat. I dont care. Whether you want to cry, shout, laugh or what, I just want you all to get the rat dissected. Or else you'll have to bring the body home..........

............and lastly, dont be afraid while cutting the rats. You have no choice but to kill it. And the only way you can repay their lives is to score A in Biology STPM."

Special thanks to Marc Perkins and Bryan Yang for their nice photos.

Good luck mates!( Comments PLEASE!!!!)

鸡飞狗跳来了!- Happy Chinese New Year
.

.
Piggy Year. The 12th animal of the Chinese astrology indicates the final year in the 12-year-a-round Chinese Calender. Pig, according to the ancient Chinese belief is a sign of good fortune and lucks. People born during the year of pig are usually considered as honest, straightfoward and patient persons. Anyhow, remember that the 88's are dragons:P

Leading The Year

.

.
Without realising how fast time travelled, now we are in Upper Six already, which means this is our final year in highschool. What we want in this precious one year is of course good results in exam, but other than that, we're trying to make everyday a memorable moment in our minds. As one of the program listed in the activity schedule, class decorating competition was really interesting. At first some of us were hesitating whether to decorate the class or not, but then, the unstoppable force of Bio One emerge from the dark like the awakened .........PiG!!! *ok lar, like the awakened dragon lor:P* Actually we started 3 days later after the date of competition was announced. We started just when the class next door had almost completed their decorating work.
.

.

.

.

.
High Speed Actions
.

.
The plan started out smoothly. We were picking up very fast that even we ourselve couldnt believe what we were about to see. Just within one day's time, our Bio One was fully decorated with red stuffs from the rubbish bin till the isle outside. Small red angpaus were cut into pieces of mini red clothes hanged across the classrooms. Decorative items like small tanglungs, red cloth, greeting cards, red T-shirts, lion heads filled up every single space available in our class. For the following days, our mood got even higher, and this time we had even completed our Spade no. 2 ( In chinese, its called Dai3 Di2), which is the gorgeous red CNY banners. The red banners with season's greetings on it spreaded beautifully from the top floor to the second floor. An unexpectable count down was held by many people from the ground. Cheerings and applauds filled the atmosphere with great sense of the spring season. After that, we continued the class decoration until the last day, which is the day where teachers will evaluate the decorations of each class.
.
On that day, two teachers came and evaluated us. They were totally impressed even before they reach our class; girls and boys lined up at the corridor to welcome the teachers. Two of them went into our class, and again, they were amazed to feel the New Year spirit that was long lost in SMJK Jit Sin. The best part of the day was when they were brought to the science laboratary, to catch a look on our class from afar. No doubt, we were given good comments by the two teachers and according to Puan Choo Sat Nee, our class was the best they'd spotted so far.To get a better view on how we gave our classroom a total make over, please scroll downwards to see the photos.

What I Am Thinking About
.

.

Although the result of the winner of this competition is yet to be revealed by the time I am writing, we have had great fun together. For me, the best part of the whole drama is not to win the competition, but the real fun within is the process of decorating the classroom. The time we've spent, the joy and happiness that were shared together. It is certainly a priceless experience that we all experienced.

.

One last thing, JitSin Express would like to wish everybody be blessed with great fortune and good health, and also a great Chinese New Year.

恭喜发财 ,万事如意
